We are currently looking for a Full Time Emergency Department Virtual Visit Clinic Float LPN II to join our Emergency Department Team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center working.
Summary:
Provides professional and clinical healthcare services to Native American beneficiaries and others according to EMTALA in the emergency department. LPN's are responsible for adhering to established standards of nursing practice and for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient\-family centered care in the emergency department.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a preceptor for nursing students
- Plans and provides routine patient care by utilizing the nursing process including teaching patients and their families, and discharge planning
- Assists the RN with gathering data for patient triage when needed
- Instructs patients on proper test collection and preparation of urine and blood tests
- Obtains adequate and proper blood and urine specimens from patients for laboratory testing
- Administers prescribed medications, and IV fluids according to facility policies and procedures and appropriate nursing standards and guidelines
- Functions as an ED1/ED2 LPN II when needed
- Collaborates with physicians or mid\-level providers (physician assistant or nurse practitioner) about the patients’ care
- Answers phone calls from patients
- Manages patient care via virtual communication
- Prepares patients for physical exams
- Schedules appointments for patients
- Follows appropriate guidelines based on the age and condition of the patient in collecting specimens for testing
- Treats all patients and family with care and respect and maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees to facilitate quality patient care
- Ensures adherence to standards of other regulatory agencies
- Collaborates with the RN and/or provider to provide patient or family education designed to meet the age\-specific needs of the patient population served
- Provides safe interventions under the supervision of an RN and/or provider ensuring that it is appropriate to patients’ needs, age and condition
- Maintains and promotes professionalism and teamwork
- Maintains positive attitude even in stressful situations and have a strong emotional intelligence and maturity.
- Participates in performance improvement activities to measure, assess and improve the quality of assigned work area
- Provides and advocates age and culturally appropriate, holistic patient care based upon facility mission statements and as outlined in policies and procedures
- Implements interventions appropriate to the age\-specific needs of the patient
- Participates in hourly lobby rounding
- Recognizes and anticipates common changes in the physical, biopsychosocial and health needs of patients experiencing urgent, emergent or non\-emergent conditions
- Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner

- Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities

- Basic Computer skills
- Electronic health record software as appropriate
- Medication administration
- Skilled in operating a computer and/or other equipment related to specific role (i.e. automated currency counters, calculator, projector, binding machine, other related office equipment)
- Accurate typing and/or data entry skills
- 2 years directly related experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
- Must pass internal Medication Test
- Pass general background check
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Works in a hospital or clinic environment
- Stressful environment due to any or a combination of deadlines, pressures, multiple tasks, lines of communication, risks, speed of operations, etc.
- Potential exposure to contagious diseases
- May be required to assist individuals with unmanaged emotions
- May be required to assist individuals who are hostile, agitated or under the influence
- Walking up to 75% of shift
- Frequently bend, kneel, stoop, push, reach
- Constantly lift and or carry over 50 lbs
- Standing up to 100% of shift
- Frequently assist with lifting patients
- Pass pre\-employment drug test
