    Overview

    The Division of Institutional Planning \& Operations (IP\&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

    Posting Summary

    Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Public Safety Assistant II for the Division of Institutional Planning \& Operations (IP\&O). Under the supervision of the Public Safety Supervisor, this position provides technical, analytical, and administrative support to the Investigations Unit and Records Bureau of the Rutgers Police Department.

    Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provides support to the Office of Emergency Management during large\-scale planned events and emergencies.
  • Responsible for comprehensive surveillance video review in support of police investigations. Gathers and confirms information for employment background investigations.
  • Compiles statistical data and reports.
  • Assists with unit audits in support of compliance requirements.

    Minimum Salary 59893\.480

    Mid Range Salary 73909\.480

    Maximum Salary 87925\.480

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications/Licenses

  • Must possess and maintain a Valid NJ Driver’s License.
  • Will be required to complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving program.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of general investigative and emergency management principles and the requirement for conducting effective emergency field operations.
  • Effective communication skills and computer literacy.

  • Standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing.
  • Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10\) pounds.
  • Must be able to function effectively for extended periods under stressful conditions despite multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.
  • Will be required to respond to emergency situations during and after regular business hours and on weekends and holidays.
