This role directly supports Health Clerks, serving as the licensed professional of record, and ensures compliance with district, state, and federal health regulations. The nurse coordinates state\-mandated screenings, medication administration, individualized health plans (IHPs), and health\-related components of student IEPs/504 plans. REQUIREMENTS Education Level Details Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing or three (3\) or more years of licensed, practical experience as an RN with school\-aged children License / Certification Required Current Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License \- School Nurse endorsement required or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire. Be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Colorado. Possess a current certificate for Cardio\-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and be able to renew it as required. Work Experience Required One year experience as a school nurse or 3 years experience as an RN Other Skills and Abilities Required Bilingual (preferred) EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel with input from district administrators.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Student Health \& Wellness Responsibilities+ Support optimal physical and mental wellness to enhance student learning and outcomes. + Provide direct health services including first aid, well\-child care, medication administration, immunization compliance, and emergency care. + Identify and address health factors interfering with student learning; collaborate with staff and families to mitigate barriers. + Conduct all mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, BMI, etc.), make referrals, and ensure follow\-up. + Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Health Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans, and health\-related IEP/504 components. + Ensure proper training, delegation, and supervision of Health Clerks and other unlicensed personnel. + Must be able to take calls during the work day Data \& Program Evaluation+ Maintain accurate and confidential health records in district software systems. + Collect, monitor, and analyze student health data to guide interventions and program adjustments. + Complete accident/incident reports, documentation for screenings, and required state and district reports. Communication \& Collaboration+ Establish professional relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners to support student health. + Collaborate with principals, teachers, and district leadership regarding health\-related needs and accommodations. + Apply Board of Education policy for exclusion/re\-admittance of students related to infectious and communicable disease in collaboration with administration and health agencies. + Serve as liaison to physicians and community health providers regarding student medical needs. Professional Growth \& Instructional Support+ Participate in professional development to maintain licensure and enhance job\-specific knowledge. + Collaborate in the development of health education curriculum when applicable. + Train staff in universal precautions, emergency response, and health\-related procedures. + Attend school and district meetings as required; serve on committees supporting health and safety. Policy, Reports, and Law+ Comply with all applicable federal laws: IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, HIPAA, and related K12 regulations. + Follow Colorado Nurse Practice Act and licensure requirements under CDE/DORA. + Adhere to Adams 14 Board of Education policies and operational procedures related to student services, documentation, and conduct. + Uphold standards for confidentiality, reporting, and professional practice in school nursing. + Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal, Administrator of Health Services, or Superintendent. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a usual office or school environment, including classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, playgrounds, gyms, and other spaces accessible to students. The employee may be required to work from a remote location in the event of a district shut\-down or other event.Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Compensation for this position is $69,460 to $102,626 per year (2025\-2026\), based on verified experience and qualifications, and aligned with the Adams 14 salary schedule. This position is scheduled for 188 work days annually. Additional compensation opportunities may be available through stipends or supplemental assignments, depending on job responsibilities.
