  • We are looking for a creative and driven individual to join the Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium (HMS) leadership team as an administrative manager.

    The Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium (HMS) is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and Blue Care Network (BCN)\-funded Collaborative Quality Initiative. We are a data\-driven collaborative made up of hospitals across the State of Michigan with a goal of improving the quality of care for hospitalized medical patients. As a part of the HMS Coordinating Center, you will collaborate with a dynamic team and will manage an administrative specialist. HMS is comprised of 68 hospitals/program participants with potential for future expansion.

    Under the direction of the HMS Program Manager, you will be an important member of the HMS Coordinating Center Leadership team. You will support HMS's data\-driven initiatives in Antimicrobial Use, Sepsis and Critical Care, advancing our statewide mission to protect patients from preventable harm. You will operate with a high degree of independence leading cross\-functional projects, managing partner communications, and making decisions within the scope of assigned responsibilities to keep initiatives on track.

  • * Administrative Responsibilities

    + Work with participating sites to secure Data Use Agreements and collaborate with the Michigan Medicine Office of the General Counsel and the Office of Compliance to ensure appropriate agreements are in place

    + Coordinate Maintenance of Certification (MOC) projects for HMS physicians

    * Management

    + Oversee daily work of one administrative specialist and one temporary employee to ensure high\-quality deliverables

    + Lead hiring and onboarding when vacancies arise

    + Coach staff through individualized performance plans and regular feedback

    * Project Leadership:

    + Lead special projects and new initiatives as assigned, identifying appropriate team members and resources to drive completion. Act as single point of contact for projects and be responsible for tracking, managing deliverables and final analysis

    + Partner with the Coordinating Center team to plan and build content for Collaborative\-Wide Meetings and calls

    + Represent HMS on committees and task forces as appropriate

    + Support funder deliverables, including requests for information and progress reports

    + Present on ongoing projects and deliverables to internal and external audiences

    * Communications and Outreach:

    + Serve as HMS Communications Lead across the CQI portfolio, ensuring consistent messaging among partners

    + Manage HMS social media, website, and semiannual newsletter to engage internal and external audiences

    + Develop and launch semiannual quality improvement surveys, analyzing results to inform program improvements

    * Coordinating Center Operations:

    + Manage HMS electronic Patient Reported Outcomes processes in partnership with the HMS Data team

    + Facilitate staff onboarding and offboarding and provide orientation to in\-person and virtual workspaces

  • All other duties as assigned by HMS Program Manager
  • Required Qualifications\*

  • Bachelor's degree in health administration, communications, quality improvement, public health or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in project coordination, quality improvement, healthcare operations, communications, or related area
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management/quality improvement methodologies such as Lean, Just\-In\-Time, or Six Sigma
  • Experience coordinating projects and working with or leading teams
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and maintain multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners through strong communication skills in multiple modalities
  • Ability to valuate courses of action and make independent decisions within the scope of assigned responsibilities
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and related productivity tools, as well as web content management systems, social media platforms, and survey tools such as Qualtrics
  • Ability to travel within the state of Michigan as needed

  • Master's degree obtained (or in progress) in healthcare/business administration, communications, public health, or related field
  • Experience in healthcare, specifically working with multi\-site projects or leading clinical quality improvement or patient safety initiatives
  • Experience supervising or managing a team, including assigning work, providing performance feedback, and supporting staff development
  • Previous experience with BCBSM Collaborative Quality Initiatives
  • Familiarity with health/provider performance measures
  • Familiarity with University of Michigan (campus or health system) policies and procedures

  • This position is a hybrid position with in\-person days at the North Campus Research Complex. The hours are 40 hours per week.
