Duties
- Verify client insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments and document accurately in the EHR
- Communicate insurance coverage and financial responsibility clearly to clients
- Review client records for accuracy and completeness to support billing processes
- Prepare, submit, and monitor insurance claims; follow up on pending, denied, or rejected claims and resubmit as needed
- Ensure accurate coding (CPT, ICD\-10\) and compliance with payer requirements and healthcare regulations
- Collect and process client payments and maintain accurate account records
- Respond to client billing questions and assist with understanding balances and payment options
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on unpaid claims or patient responsibility
- Maintain HIPAA compliance in all billing and communication processes
- Assist with billing reports, maintain organized documentation, and stay updated on payer policy changes
- Support general administrative and front office tasks as needed
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer skills (email, data entry, and navigating online systems)

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines

- Commitment to completing training and engaging in ongoing learning
- Familiarity with mental health services or outpatient therapy settings
- Prior experience in a customer service or healthcare office environment
- Exposure to insurance verification or medical billing processes (behavioral health experience a plus)
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR) or practice management systems
- Basic understanding of CPT and ICD\-10 coding in a mental health billing context (training provided)
- Knowledge of medical billing terminology or revenue cycle processes
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Billing\-related certification (CPC, CPB, CRC, COC, CPMA, RCMS, CEMC or similar)
