Estimating Assistant – Nevada Fence

We are looking for an Estimating Assistant who is detail‑oriented, organized, and eager to grow within the construction estimating field.
Position Summary
The Estimating Assistant supports the estimating team by performing takeoffs, organizing bid documents, coordinating with vendors, and helping prepare competitive proposals. This is an excellent entry‑level or early‑career role for someone who wants to learn construction estimating, project documentation, and pre‑construction workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Takeoffs \& Quantity Support
- Perform basic quantity takeoffs for fencing, gates, operators, and hardware.
- Measure linear footage, post counts, materials, and equipment needs from drawings.
- Update takeoff spreadsheets and maintain accuracy as drawings change.
- Assist in assembling bid packages, including scope sheets, inclusions/exclusions, and vendor lists.
- Organize and maintain plans, specifications, addenda, and revisions.
- Track bid deadlines, pre‑bid meetings, and submission requirements.
- Request and collect material quotes from suppliers.
- Compare and level quotes for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain an updated database of suppliers and subcontractors.
- Enter and update unit pricing, labor rates, and historical cost data.
- Assist in comparing current bids to past projects to identify trends.
- Support Estimators and Project Managers with RFIs, clarifications, and scope alignment.
- Attend internal estimating meetings and document follow‑up items.
- Assist with preliminary schedules, phasing notes, and logistics considerations.
- Maintain organized digital folders for each bid.
- Help prepare estimate summaries for leadership review.
- Use estimating tools such as ArcSite, JobNimbus, and Excel (training provided).
- Assist with incoming calls and other administrative duties.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, and digital file organization
- Ability to read basic construction drawings (or willingness to learn)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Experience in construction, estimating, drafting, or field installation
- Familiarity with JobNimbus, ArcSite, or similar tools
- Knowledge of fencing, gates, or access control systems
