Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Job Responsibilities:
* Implement Occupational Therapy Plans: Execute individualized treatment plans designed by a supervising Occupational Therapist (OT), using evidence\-based techniques to improve clients’ functional abilities in daily activities.
* Direct Client Support: Work one\-on\-one or in small groups with clients to address goals related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, self\-care tasks, and the use of adaptive equipment, as directed by the OT.
* Data Collection: Accurately collect and record data on client progress during therapy sessions, following established protocols to assist the OT in monitoring and adjusting interventions.
* Session Support: Assist in preparing materials, setting up therapy environments, and adapting activities to ensure effective delivery of services under OT supervision.
* Collaboration: Partner with the supervising OT, other team members (e.g., BCBAs, SLPs, PTs, Music Therapy professionals), and clients’ families to maintain consistency in implementing strategies and supporting client needs.
* Maintain Documentation: Complete session notes and other required documentation promptly and accurately, adhering to organizational and regulatory standards under the guidance of the supervising OT.
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Qualifications:
* Certification and Licensure: Possess a valid National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and licensure in Michigan.
* Education: Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
* Experience: Prior experience working with clients in occupational therapy or a related field is preferred but not required; newly certified candidates will be considered.
* Availability: Willingness to work afternoons, at least three evenings Monday through Friday until 7:00 PM, and participate in a Saturday rotation as needed.
* Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between clinic locations in Shelby Township and Clinton Township and provide limited in\-home services within Macomb County.
Pay: $28\.00 \- $32\.00 per hour
