- Perform various job duties, while under the pressure of emergency situations, with high degree of accuracy and efficiency. Employee needs to be able to do all duties with minimal supervision.
- Ensure mature, professional, and consistent responses to inquiries, contacts, and emergencies calls in order to reduce liability concerns by providing professional telecommunications over monitored emergency services radio network, phone, email, and in person. Part of this includes being able to prepare correspondences for the department to include letters, memos, notices, and emails to campus.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including being able to fulfill requests to work alternate hours when required, and when this coverage is necessary i.e. in instances of staff illness, holidays, vacations, or emergencies, being capable of completing the duties of the shift.
- To be able to provide the everyday services of the Public Safety department, including dispatching, answering an emergency phone, entering data, navigating databases, filing, monitoring and clerical support, operating office while on duty, contacting emergency repair personnel, and being able to handle emergency situations.
- Data entry into database, including campus facility keys for students, faculty and staff, and vehicle registration.
- Monitor and update emergency contacts
- Update and monitor alarm codes. Maintain codes within database system. Communicate alarm code updates to appropriate users.
- Manage event tracker for building security using CAD system.
- Granting access control to faculty/staff and students and building access as requested
- Creating ids for students faculty / staff
- Motorpool daily functions

- Associate's Degree, required
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred
- Two \- Five years experience in telephone and dispatch equipment operations.
- Experience is needed in computer keyboarding.
- Must possess good customer service skills and be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must possess the ability to complete duties under extreme pressure using sound judgment with a high degree of accuracy.
- Must be efficient in database navigation and entry.
- Written and verbal communication skills and abilities are necessary to receive process and provide information and respond to requests.
- First Aid Certification, required
- CPR Certification, required
- 2 \- 3 classes (approximately 6 \- 9 credit hours) other related training
- Computer literacy and manipulation of data;
- Operation of electronic equipment is necessary to process telephone calls on the emergency telephone and for radio communications.
- Mobility is necessary to regularly walk, sit and stand in the office.
- Must be able to respond quickly in the event of an emergency and must maintain a working phone number for call outs in the case of such an emergency.
- Must be able to respond to audible alarms.
- Must be able to answer telephones/radios.
- Must be able to operate keyboard and manual dispatch radio.
- Must be able to quickly move to a safe shelter area in the event of an emergency
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time in an enclosed environment and remain attentive to different types of communications devices such as two way radio, phone, alarm monitors and customers.
- Must be able to relocate immediately to a remote command center outside or in a different building in case of emergency.
- Vehicle operation not required but must have transportation to be able to be on\-call and respond to Public Safety in an emergency.
