The University of Iowa International Programs is hiring a dedicated Enrollment Coordinator, Study Abroad (100% appointment)

This role manages student enrollment and records for study abroad programs, working closely with the Registrar, campus student systems, and Study Abroad databases (Terra Dotta and MAUI). The Enrollment Coordinator ensures accurate data, solves complex administrative issues, and supports advisors and leadership with day‑to‑day operations. They will also have the opportunity to:

  • Manage Study Abroad course offerings, student records, and database functions across MAUI and Terra Dotta, including transcript processing, grade conversions, and coordination with academic departments and the Registrar's Office.
  • Coordinate the first point of contact for students seeking information about studying abroad, including having full working knowledge of individual duties of study abroad staff members in order to triage requests.
  • Responsible for training IP employees and staff on Study Abroad functions and procedures
  • Responsible for cash handling connected to IP and the UI passport office.

    About the Department: At the University of Iowa, International Programs functions as a catalyst for internationalization and a hub for international activities. In 1997, the Iowa Board of Regents brought international research, instruction, and services together under the leadership of an associate provost and dean, and assistant provost for International Programs. The International Programs department provides leadership and support for internationally oriented teaching, research, creative work, and community engagement.

    Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Some experience (typically 6 months to 1 year) in an office, administrative, or customer service–oriented role that includes managing multiple tasks or projects concurrently.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work
  • Possibility for infrequent domestic travel
  • Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates a Working proficiency level in the following competencies.
  • + Common computer software applications, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneNote).

    + Office and administrative support functions, including organizing records, maintaining workflows, and efficiently supporting individuals, teams, and/or units.

    + Managing time and resources to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet deadlines.

    + Accuracy and attention to detail, including processing information with a high degree of precision and using tools or checks to minimize errors.

    + Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and diplomatically exchange information with various audiences.

    + Providing effective customer service and building constructive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.

    + Working independently with minimal supervision to complete multiple ongoing tasks or projects on time and with accuracy.

    + Organizational and prioritization skills in a busy, deadline‑driven environment.

  • Experience working with spreadsheets and performing database data entry.
  • Working knowledge of FERPA and the protection of student education records, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge upon hire.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to assume new responsibilities and learn new systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with student information systems or databases, particularly Terra Dotta and/or the University of Iowa student database (MAUI), or comparable systems.
  • Experience working in a large public or private university setting, particularly in roles related to student administration, academic records, registration, or advising.
  • Experience analyzing data and preparing summaries or reports, including basic visual presentation of data (e.g., tables or charts).
  • Familiarity with higher education policies, practices, and processes related to undergraduate students.
  • Previous experience studying abroad, working abroad, or working in a study abroad or international education office.

Work Modality:

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $45,000 – $52,000, with the top of the range reserved for exceptionally qualified applicants. This position includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
