This position is eligible for telework, and OSHR is currently offering a three\-day in and two days remote hybrid schedule.

RECRUITMENT RANGE: $96,513 \- $130,000

The OSHR General Counsel’s office provides legal and policy advice to the OSHR Director, Executive Management, and divisions.

What You’ll Do

In this dynamic role, you will work as a part of OSHR’s legal team to advise and consult with OSHR’s divisions and program areas on a variety of matters.

  • Provide legal support and consultation to OSHR in connection with employee
  • benefits, workers’ compensation, contracting/procurement, public records, and

    other areas. This work also includes consultation with or responding to inquiries

    from legal counsel and HR professionals at other state agencies on questions as

    needed.

  • Conduct trainings for HR professionals and other state personnel as needed.
  • Provide legal advice to OSHR Director, Executive Management, and divisions
  • Work with Attorney General’s Office to coordinate legal strategy and responses.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

* Thorough knowledge of statutory, case, and regulatory law.

* Thorough knowledge of management principles, techniques, and practices of the agency's organization and objectives.

* Skilled in directing employees and programs in various areas of responsibility.

* Capability to understand and implement laws, constitutional provisions, statutes, administrative regulations, and judicial rulings.

* Skilled in examining intricate legal issues and providing formal assessments.

* Talent for innovatively crafting case strategies and tactics.

* Proficiency in organizing and facilitating the growth of others.

Minimum Education and Experience

Licensed to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar, with three years of progressively responsible professional legal experience.
