Job Summary:
The Production Administrative Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the production department. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and capable of maintaining high standards in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role includes printing production drawings and labels, inspecting and receiving materials, entering data into our MRP system (Strumis), and maintaining meticulous documentation for traceability and compliance.
The position plays an important role in helping ensure production activities run efficiently by maintaining accurate records, supporting production leadership, and assisting with day\-to\-day operational tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Print and prepare production drawings and labels in advance of scheduled fabrication jobs.
- Accurately receive and record material deliveries in Strumis MRP system.
- Maintain detailed, traceable records of Mill Test Reports (MTRs) for all received materials.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure availability and proper labeling of materials for upcoming jobs.
- Immediately report discrepancies or quality issues to supervisors and the purchasing department.
- Provide administrative support to plant leadership and assist with preparing production reports, schedules, and operational documents.
- Maintain current and accurate production documentation, reports, logs, and records.
- Ensure current revisions of drawings and documents are available to production personnel.
- Support reporting, filing, scanning, and other administrative tasks related to plant operations.
- Monitor own work to ensure it meets quality specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience: 1\-3 years prior experience in an administrative operational support experience within manufacturing or steel fabrication environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of material inspection and receiving procedures preferred.
- Experience with ERP/inventory systems, preferably Strumis preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., email, spreadsheets, data entry).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Strong time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to work full\-time onsite at the McGregor, TX facility, with a proactive mindset focused on efficiency and problem\-solving in a multinational setting.
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic English/Spanish to interpret/follow safety guidelines and work instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to \[e.g., 50 pounds] regularly.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions common to a manufacturing facility (e.g., varying temperatures, noise levels, potential for dust/debris, wet floors).
- Manual dexterity and hand\-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.
- Must be able to work in varying warehouse and yard temperatures (hot/cold conditions).
- Standard day shift, 8:00am – 5:00pm CST, Monday\-Friday, with flexibility to support production needs.
- Depending on production needs, some weekend work may be required.
