Job Description:

SUMMARY:

The Transportation Supervisor/Manager oversees daily transportation operations in support of a government contract, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient movement of personnel, freight, and personal property. This role manages motor pool operations, vehicle dispatch, fleet maintenance coordination, and transportation support services in accordance with federal, DoD, and agency\-specific regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and coordinate the scheduling, assignment, and dispatch of government vehicles.
  • Oversee vehicle availability, utilization, and rotation to ensure mission readiness.
  • Ensure proper storage, safekeeping, and accountability of all motor pool assets.
  • Implement motor pool policies and procedures aligned with agency fleet\-management standards.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, hazardous materials rules, and carrier requirements.
  • Liaise with carriers, vendors, and government logistics personnel to resolve shipment issues, if needed.
  • Ensure compliance with the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3\) or agency\-specific PP guidelines.
  • Monitor claims, delivery timelines, and customer satisfaction metrics

    This position supports the DOD on a federal installation and the candidate must be available to work at the assigned physical location during business hours.*

    6:00AM\-3:00PM*

    NON\-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate records for vehicle usage, maintenance, fuel consumption, and trip data.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and DoD transportation regulations.
  • Prepare operational reports, readiness summaries, and performance metrics for government leadership.
  • Support audits, inspections, and contract compliance reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned/approved by Management
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise drivers, dispatchers, clerks, and motor pool personnel.
  • Provide training on safety, vehicle operation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Enforce safety standards and investigate transportation\-related incidents.
  • Manage staffing schedules, performance evaluations, and workflow priorities.

    Requirements:

    * EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Essential:

  • Experience in transportation, logistics, fleet management, or motor pool operations.
  • Prior work with government or DoD transportation programs strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal motor vehicle regulations, freight rules, and personal property movement processes.
  • Ability to manage teams in a fast\-paced operational environment.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required depending on contract.
  • Preferred:

  • Experience with government fleet systems (e.g., DPAS, FMIS, GSA Fleet).

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to customers, internal and external, clients and other employees in the organization. Ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the performance of this job in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is generally performed in an office environment and requires sitting or standing and working on a computer for extended periods. The position also requires walking, standing, and moving about the property for prolonged periods. Essential and marginal functions require maintaining the physical ability to bend, stoop, sit, walk, and stand for extended periods, and to operate during periods of high stress. The employee must occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds and may handle equipment or supplies up to 50 pounds individually and more than 50 pounds with assistance. Duties may include moderate physical effort in loading, unloading, and arranging equipment or supplies. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in environments that may be dirty, dusty, or uneven, with occasional exposure to hot, cold, damp, or drafty weather conditions. The employee must have visual acuity to review written documentation, the ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone, and the manual dexterity to operate a cell phone, handheld radio, telephone, and keyboard.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:

This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on\-site. May be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Must be able to work in fast paced, multi\-task environment. If applicable work 10(\+) hours per day Will require having flexed hours to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and Holidays. Overtime may be required.

* Transportation \& Access: You must have reliable transportation to and from work and be able to access military installations.

* Background \& Drug Screening: Employment requires passing a background check and pre\-employment drug screening. Random drug and alcohol testing may also occur without prior notice.

* Timesheets: Record your actual work hours daily and ensure your entries are accurate and timely to support smooth operations.

* Dress \& Punctuality: Arrive on time and dress appropriately for your shift.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS:

All employees are required to undergo an initial background investigation as a condition of employment. Additionally, employees may be subject to subsequent background investigations if circumstances warrant, such as the emergence of a need, an issue, or probable cause.

Employees assigned to work on federal installations or projects must also comply with government\-mandated background investigations, which are conducted independently of the company's investigations. Employment and continued assignment to federal installations are contingent upon successfully meeting and maintaining these requirements.
