About the Role
Job Title: Operations Control Center (OCC) Specialist Position Summary
The Operations Control Center (OCC) Specialist is responsible for real\-time monitoring, coordination, and optimization of field operations across oil and gas assets. This role serves as the central hub for operational visibility, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous production by leveraging SCADA systems, data analytics, and direct communication with field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control production, drilling, and/or midstream operations using SCADA and other real\-time systems
- Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate operational issues (pressure deviations, flow interruptions, equipment alarms, etc.)
- Coordinate with field personnel, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve incidents and optimize performance
- Track and report key production metrics, downtime, and system performance
- Execute operational procedures during startups, shutdowns, and emergency situations
- Maintain situational awareness across multiple assets, including wells, facilities, pipelines, and compressors
- Support incident management, including documentation, reporting, and post\-event analysis
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist in production optimization by identifying trends and recommending improvements
- Maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and operational records
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Process Technology, or related field preferred but not required
- 3\+ years of experience in oil \& gas operations (production, drilling, midstream, or refining)
- Prior experience in an Operations Control Center, SCADA operations, or remote monitoring environment preferred
- Proficiency in SCADA systems (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, CygNet, or similar)
- Strong understanding of oil \& gas production systems, including wells, artificial lift, and surface facilities
- Familiarity with pipeline operations, compression, and flow assurance (preferred)
- Ability to interpret P\&IDs, process flow diagrams, and operational data
- Experience with alarm management systems and incident tracking tools
- Basic data analysis skills (Excel, dashboards, or similar tools)
