General summary of duties: Medical assistants work alongside providers to offer primary pediatric care in our medical clinic.
Position reports to: Primary Care Physician, Medical Director, Practice Manager
Job qualifications:
Education/training: High school diploma, some college preferred. Certified Medical Assistant’s license.
Experience: At least one (1\) years’ experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care facility
Duties and responsibilities:
· Medical assistants are cross\-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties
· Commitment to team approach to health care delivery.
Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):
· Answer phones as needed and triage appropriately
· Assist as needed with securing referrals and making specialist or test appointments
· Relay messages as may be required by physician
· Schedule visits as needed during the day
· Assist at front desk as necessary with phones and filing
· Order and stock supplies
· Review insurance information, phone numbers, and contact information at each visit
· Attend regular patient care meetings (huddles) and practice meetings
· Be an active and engaged member of Patient\-Centered Medical Home Team
Clinical Duties
· Prepare rooms for the day
· Escort patients to room and prepare patients for examination
· Assist the physician during exams and with paperwork preparation if needed
· Record temperature, height, weight, and blood pressure for well visit; chart and graph findings
· Administer vaccines
· Perform vision and hearing screenings
· Clean and restock rooms and equipment
· Prepare for and run laboratory tests
· Assist providers and nurses with procedures
· Document care and services performed
Required EMR Tasks
· Identify if immunization records are available and check online registry
· Obtain records release requests from parents
· Contact patient’s previous providers to obtain immunization and other records
· Brings schedules to providers at the end of the day for following day’s huddle
Work environment:
The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, clients, patients, insurance companies, and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
