    This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

    Duties

  • ----------
  • Perform entry level triage of patients within a clinic environment, screening exams independently and efficiently, in an often fast\-paced environment.
  • Direct the flow of patients; obtain medical and personal data and accurately transcribe into the patient medical record (hard copy and/or electronic) according to established techniques and procedures.
  • Ensure medical records are prepared and available.
  • Complete other assigned office administrative work in support of clinical care.
  • Instill basic medication administration via atomizer per surgeons’ orders/standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation of the full spectrum of complex, intricate examinations appropriate for the clinical setting, which vary depending on the status.
  • Ensure proper computer entry of patient data and equipment settings.
  • Ensure proper preparation, cleaning disinfection and sterilization of surgical and clinical instruments/equipment.

  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre\-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315\. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre\-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • ### Qualifications

    Who May Apply: US Citizens

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS\-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1\) performing medical screenings to include past medical history and patient vitals; 2\) provide patient with instructions and information on procedures to be performed; and 3\) selects and secures all instruments for new sterile procedures and 4\) prepares treatment room for surgical procedures.

    Education: One full academic year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Medical Technician, Nursing, or Medical Assistant.

    OR

    Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12\. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60\) by 60\. Add the two percentages.
