Salary Range: $78,023\-$114,156

Ad Valorem \- 2\.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one\-half in January and one\-half in June. The amount of each employee’s supplement is the employee’s salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues)

Belle Chasse High School is seeking a dynamic instructional leader to join the administration team for the 2026\-2027 school year. An Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing instructional leadership, maintaining a safe and productive learning environment, and promoting student success. An Assistant Principal works collaboratively with staff, students, families, and the community to support the academic, behavioral, and social development of all students.

Job Goal

To provide visionary leadership and effective management that fosters a safe, inclusive and high\-achieving learning environment. The Assistant Principal will ensure the success of all students by implementing high\-quality instructional programs, promoting professional growth among staff and cultivating a positive school culture. Through collaboration with teachers, parents and the community, the Assistant Principal will uphold high academic standards, support student well\-being and drive continuous school improvement while ensuring compliance with district, state and federal policies.

Qualifications (minimum education, licensure, skills and/or experience)

Required

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Louisiana Educational Leader (EDL) Certificate (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Minimum five (5\) years of teaching experience in an accredited school.
  • Knowledge of Louisiana laws, policies and accountability measures related to education.
  • Strong instructional leadership skills with the ability to implement curriculum standards and improve student achievement.
  • Effective communication, problem\-solving and decision\-making skills.
  • Experience with staff supervision, evaluation and professional development.
  • Ability to manage school operations, including budgeting, scheduling and compliance with district and state policies.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive school culture and maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.
  • Preferred

  • At least two (2\) years of administrative or leadership experience (e.g., Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, department head).
  • Proven success in improving school performance and student achievement.
  • Experience with school turnaround efforts, strategic planning and/or data\-driven decision\-making.
  • Knowledge of instructional technology integration and digital learning strategies.
  • Strong background in conflict resolution, crisis management and student discipline.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace.

  • Ensures teachers set clear, measurable objectives aligned to the depth and rigor of the state standards (National or local standards may be used when state standards are not available for specific courses).
  • Implements systems that allow teachers to analyze formative and summative data to monitor student progress and adjust teaching and learning to meet student achievement goals.
  • Creates opportunities for teachers to participate in professional learning that is focused on curriculum, assessment and instructional practices.

  • Engages all teachers in utilizing data to identify students in need of intervention, acceleration, extension or other additional support.
  • Monitors student progress to ensure the academic needs of all students are being met.
  • Supports teachers in adjusting instruction by utilizing instructional supports within high\-quality instructional materials, when available, to ensure that students master the content.
  • Assists teachers in implementing instructional practices that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Implements systems that ensure all students have access to rigorous, on grade\-level instruction.

  • Reinforces a school wide schedule and routines that maximize instructional time.
  • Plans and prioritizes his/her own schedule in order to engage in instructional leadership activities focused on teaching and learning.
  • Ensures teachers have access to high\-quality instructional materials to instruct all students.
  • Considers system and school goals when making decisions about instructional practices or priorities.
  • Utilizes other instructional leaders on campus to play a role in supporting and building teacher capacity in order to meet both teacher and student goals.
  • Leads instructional staff meetings and/or ongoing applied professional learning with adult learning principles.

  • Establishes and monitors a system that ensures all staff (including but not limited to clerical, cafeteria, custodial and transportation) are productive and use their time effectively by focusing on student needs and student achievement.
  • 6\.2 Fiscal and Physical Management

  • Acquires and manages fiscal, physical and other resources to support student learning and community engagement.
  • Analyzes data sources and utilizes feedback to make decisions for allocating resources in order to meet the needs and goals of the school.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • As required for special\-education services, the Assistant Principal:
  • + Schedules all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 and Behavior Interventionist Plan (BIP) meetings, serving as the Local Educational Agency (LEA) designee when assigned.

    + Monitors daily delivery of accommodations on assignments, assessments and state tests, correcting lapses immediately.

    + Administers student discipline in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) \-conducting manifestation\-determination reviews and alternative placement decisions.

    + Analyzes attendance, academic and behavior data for students with disabilities to trigger timely interventions.

    + Supervises Teacher Aides’ schedules, duties and training to ensure one (1\)\-to\-one (1\) and small\-group supports are delivered.

    + Conducts classroom walkthroughs focused on inclusive practices, providing feedback and coaching to teachers.

    + Maintains up\-to\-date cumulative folders, service logs and electronic records for audit readiness.

    + Communicates promptly with parents regarding incidents, progress monitoring and adjustments to support plans.

    + Organizes and delivers in\-service sessions on de\-escalation, restraint procedures and disability awareness.

    + Ensures emergency drills and crisis plans account for students’ medical devices, mobility equipment and sensory needs.

  • Maintains all certification and licensure requirements in accordance with Louisiana Revised Statute 17:7 and Bulletin 746 (Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel).
  • Performs other job\-related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the school and district.
  • Contributes to district\-wide projects and collaborates with other departments on cross\-functional goals.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record, follows all district policies and state regulations for safe vehicle operation, reports any incidents affecting their ability to drive immediately to their supervisor and ensures proper care, maintenance and responsible use of district vehicles if required to use a district vehicle for assigned duties.

    Instructional Components

  • Fulfill duties traditionally expected of school\-based administrators.
  • Collaborate with those providing direct student instruction as well as professionals providing ancillary services.
  • Review, draft, study, recommend and implement policies, curricula and plans to improve the quality of instruction.
  • Conduct school / class walk\-throughs.
  • Prepare and/or oversee preparation of class scheduling.
  • Participate in the staffing of school via the recruitment, interview and selection and/or assignment of personnel, subject to the Superintendent’s approval.
  • Supervision

  • Supervision of employees for whose supervision employee is responsible, as applicable.
  • Complete and/or assist in the preparation / implementation of employee observations, evaluations, Intensive Assistance Plans (IAPs) and other associated tasks and monitoring.
  • Non\-instructional Components

  • Maintain the campus in a clean condition through the oversight of janitorial / maintenance staff.
  • Maintain student discipline.
  • Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of students.
  • Attend faculty, staff, department and Central Office / Principal meetings.
  • Establish school policies governing students and employees
  • Attend training sessions.
  • Attend Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Attend job fairs and related events.
  • Attend IEP meetings (as the officially designated representative \[ODR]) and 504 meetings.
  • Attend Central Office and department meetings.
  • Attend back\-to\-school and open\-house events.
  • Attend graduation and end of the year programs.
  • Interview, employ and complete necessary hires.
  • Attend School Board / committee meetings upon request.
  • Participate in the preparation of necessary disciplinary documents and corresponding disciplinary processes for both students and employees.
  • Fulfill all duties required of the school as a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) or other athletic or professional associations.
  • Maintain positive parent and community contact and problem solving.
  • Represent the school at all functions and/or meetings at which a school representative is required.
  • Attend any extra\-curricular activities as determined by the Principal / Supervisor.
  • Meet with teachers or staff members to discuss school operations, student progress or upcoming events.
  • Attend parent / teacher meetings or school events that are held in the evening.
  • Review and finalize school budgets, reports or administrative tasks.
  • Participate in professional development workshops or training sessions.
  • Handle discipline issues or addressing any urgent matters that arise during the day.
  • Collaborate with community organizations or partners to support school programs.
  • Plan and strategize for future school improvement initiatives.
  • Attend School Board meetings or other administrative responsibilities.
  • Support extracurricular activities or athletic events that take place after school hours.
  • Provide additional supervision or support for students who may need extra help or assistance.

Physical Demands

This role primarily operates in an indoor, climate\-controlled environment, with exposure to minimal temperature variations. The usual methods of performing job functions require light lifting (ten to twenty \[10\-20] pounds), carrying, pushing and pulling with frequent engagement in activities such as standing, walking and sitting. Additional physical requirements include ability to sit for prolonged periods; frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry and computer\-based tasks or other responsibilities; extended use of a computer for data analysis, report generation, communication and administrative duties; manual dexterity for various responsibilities; and adaptability to switch between multiple tasks and manage interruptions.
