Key Responsibilities
JJYS Accounting Technician III
This position supports Juvenile Justice and Youth Services' Community Programs. This position prepares and processes a variety of accounting transactions, which includes accounts payable, vendor set up and maintenance while assisting clients, providers, accounting and purchasing at facilities. Other duties may include reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, performing adjustments to data and accounts, auditing accounting transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, retrieving files, using and entering information into databases and other computer programs. Strong communication skills, and Excel skills are needed.
Accounts payable.
- Reviews documents and payment information for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepares and processes billings, claims, and related documents. Also reviews invoices, other documentation and checks for accuracy, codes authorizations, exceptions, discounts, taxes, and entering payments.
- Reconciles accounts.
- Updates and enters information into databases and other systems.
- Supports Case Management, and helps with fleet management, cell phone management, and other duties as assigned.
- Strong accounting and communication skills, along with experience in Vantage, Concur, CARE, CAPS and auditing are a plus.
- Has accounting experience.
- Is proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Possess accurate data entry skills.
- Is organized with attention to detail.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
- This position may currently be a hybrid of both in\-office and remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion, at any time and for any reason.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

Preference may be given to those who have experience with Vantage, Concur, CARE, CAPS JJYS experience and accounting.
