Summary
Supports the management of documents received within PFS; ensures that documents are indexed, scanned, and distributed to the appropriate parties. Processes incoming mail for distribution and responds to information requests from external parties.
Job Duties
- Opens, sorts, and distributes mail to the appropriate areas within Patient Financial Services.
- Processes requests from attorney's office, both written and over the telephone, regarding patient balances to ensure proper authorization is received prior to the release of information.
- Receives and reviews correspondence to ensure they are properly prepared for scanning in a timely manner taking the steps necessary to notate the Hospital Account Receivable number or Medical Record number on the document.
- Provides support to Patient Financial Services as it relates to document retention and retrieval.
- Coordinates sending and retrieval of boxes to storage facility in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assists with the identification of work flow and process improvements to enhance the scanning and document distribution process.
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 years experience in document processing in a healthcare setting or
- 5 years experience in a healthcare Revenue Cycle
- Ability to effectively communicate with the team, attorney offices, supervisors, and vendors.
- Ability to make appropriate, intelligent decisions, responding politely with courtesy.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to resolution of a problem.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Strong analytical and follow\-up skills.
- Successful completion of DOE within 3 months of hire.
- Associate’s Degree Healthcare Administration, Finance or Business

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, \*patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
