Description:

SMW Financial Credit Union is seeking an individual to join the Accounting Department at our Lino Lakes branch.

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for posting transactions, account reconciliations, maintaining card dispute resolutions and report generation among other specific functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Reconciles work by analyzing, researching, and verifying GL information and comparing system reports.
  • Processes Board members compensation
  • General ledger journal entry postings
  • Maintain and process debit card disputes
  • Process ACH files
  • Accounts payable: entering invoices \& expense reports, processing for approval following the established expense policy
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Assists in month\-end close processes
  • Assists in overseeing escheatment
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
  • Protects and keeps company information confidential
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education in Accounting/Finance, post\-secondary preferred
  • Banking or credit union experience preferred
  • 1 year of continuous employment at the same place
  • Ability to interact \& communicate effectively with all credit union employees
  • Demonstrated high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, reliability \& personal accountability
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time \& maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Proven understanding and interest in accounting and finance
  • Ability to or sit for long periods of time
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, and adaptable to different data systems
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
