Job Overview
Bright Horizons Recovery Home is a Utah\-licensed H2013 psychiatric residential facility treating adults with co\-occurring serious mental illness (SMI) and substance use disorders (SUD). We operate an integrated treatment model — psychiatric care and behavioral health treatment are delivered together by a coordinated clinical team, not in silos.
Our clinical leadership is already in place. Our Clinical Director holds an LCSW and provides active oversight of all clinical programming, treatment planning, and staff supervision. We also have an on\-site Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an experienced BHT Program Lead with eight years of residential treatment experience. You are joining a team that is already functioning — not building one from scratch.
We are looking for a licensed psychiatric provider who believes in that model — someone who wants to be an active, embedded member of a clinical team, not just a remote prescriber. This role is built for a provider who is passionate about working with a complex, underserved population and who wants their psychiatric work to be genuinely integrated with therapy, case management, and daily residential programming.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for all new admissions within required timeframes per Utah H2013 standards
- Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management including prescribing, monitoring, and adjustment of psychotropic medications
- Participate in weekly integrated clinical case conferences with the Clinical Director and Program Director — this is a required standing commitment, not optional
- Collaborate directly with the on\-site therapist and Clinical Director before finalizing treatment plans — review their clinical intake summary and integrated assessment prior to conducting your psychiatric evaluation
- Document psychiatric findings, medication decisions, and clinical observations in the client record in a timely manner
- Be available for urgent psychiatric consultation and crisis response during business hours, with defined after\-hours protocol for emergencies
- Participate in discharge planning — confirm outpatient psychiatric provider, medication bridging, and continuity of care before each client's discharge
- Advise the clinical team on medication\-behavior interactions, psychiatric symptom management, and how psychiatric status is affecting therapy and programming
- Contribute to a culture of integrated, recovery\-oriented care — your clinical perspective informs the whole team, not just your own notes
- Comply with all Utah Office of Licensing requirements for H2013 psychiatric residential facilities, including documentation standards and clinical oversight requirements
- Licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Psychiatrist (MD/DO), or Physician Assistant — Psychiatry (PA\-C) in the state of Utah
- Current, unrestricted license in good standing with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL)
- Prescriptive authority in Utah
- Experience working with adults with serious mental illness (SMI) and/or substance use disorders (SUD)
- Comfort working in a residential or structured treatment setting
- Willingness to work as an integrated member of a multidisciplinary clinical team — not as a standalone prescriber
- Ability to be on\-site at our facility a minimum of 2 days per week
- Experience with co\-occurring disorders (dual diagnosis) treatment
- Familiarity with SAMHSA's Integrated Treatment for Co\-Occurring Disorders model
- Experience in a residential treatment, psychiatric residential, or intensive outpatient setting
- Knowledge of Utah H2013 licensing requirements and documentation standards
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing and stage\-of\-change frameworks
- Experience working alongside licensed therapists, BHTs, and case managers in a team\-based care model
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required
- You are not a remote prescriber who signs off on notes. You are an embedded member of a clinical team whose psychiatric perspective shapes the entire treatment approach for each resident
- Your work directly informs therapy sessions, group programming, and reintegration planning — and the therapist's observations directly inform your medication decisions. That bidirectional relationship is the whole point
- As Bright Horizons grows — including a planned second home and existing IOP program — there is a clear path for your role to expand with the organization
- You will work with a leadership team that is actively investing in clinical quality, staff development, and evidence\-based integrated treatment — not just filling beds
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and credential level — discussed at time of interview
- Flexible part\-time schedule (10–20 hrs/week) with a combination of on\-site and remote hours
- Opportunity for role expansion and increased hours as the program grows
- Collaborative, team\-based working environment with strong clinical leadership support
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
* Program Director — your direct supervisor. Responsible for overall operations, licensing compliance, and program growth. You will report to and coordinate directly with the Program Director on scheduling, role expectations, and strategic clinical decisions
* Clinical Director (LCSW) — provides clinical oversight of all programming, ensures H2013 compliance, and guides the overall integrated treatment model. The Clinical Director is your primary clinical collaborator — you will align weekly on medication\-therapy integration, client psychiatric status, and treatment plan decisions
* On\-site Therapist (LMFT) — conducts individual psychotherapy, facilitates intake assessments, and manages day\-to\-day treatment plan implementation. Their clinical observations directly inform your psychiatric reviews and medication decisions
* Program Lead (BHT) — facilitates daily psychosocial rehabilitation groups under clinical supervision. You will receive observational reports from the Program Lead about client behavior, mood, and engagement that inform your psychiatric reviews
* Residents — adults presenting with serious mental illness and co\-occurring substance use disorders at varying stages of recovery and psychiatric stability
