About Us
Advanced Growing Resources (AGR) is a Rochester\-based precision farming company building the next generation of crop health technology. Think of it like a rapid COVID test, but for plants — our systems can diagnose crop disease in the field before it spreads, so farmers can treat only what needs treatment instead of blanketing entire fields with chemicals. The result: families get healthier food at lower prices, and farmers save money while protecting the land.
We’re a small founding team doing work that matters. Our technology is funded by NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. We are building something that has never existed before, and we’re looking for someone organized and motivated to help us move faster.
The Role
We’re hiring a part\-time executive assistant to support our three\-person founding team. This is a flexible, remote\-friendly role with occasional in\-person errands in the Rochester area. You’ll be the person who keeps the trains running while we focus on the science and engineering.
This isn’t busywork. When you schedule a meeting with Cornell, you’re helping us set up a field trial that could change how farmers protect their crops. When you follow up with a vendor, you’re keeping our supply chain moving for hardware shipping to farms this summer. Every task you complete frees up a technical founder to do the engineering that gets this product into the hands of the people who need it most.
What You’ll Do
- Schedule meetings and manage calendars for three founders across time zones and partner organizations
- Make phone calls on behalf of the company to vendors, banks, service providers, and partners
- Draft and send follow\-up emails using templates and guidelines we provide
- Process orders, returns, and shipments for both business equipment and research materials
- Manage subscriptions, recurring payments, and basic expense tracking
- Maintain and update our CRM (Pipedrive) and organize documents in Google Workspace
- Handle occasional local errands in the Rochester area (bank visits, post office, package pickups)
- Help keep our founding team organized so we can focus on building technology that helps farmers grow healthier food
- Organized and reliable — you make lists and you check everything off
- Comfortable with email, Google Calendar, and basic office tools (we’ll teach you anything specific to our workflow)
- Able to make phone calls and follow up without being asked twice
- Located in the Rochester area for occasional in\-person errands
- Good communicator who can represent a professional, mission\-driven company
- Genuinely excited about being part of a team working on something that matters — we’re small enough that your contribution will be visible every day
- 10–12 hours per week, flexible schedule (some tasks require business hours for phone calls)
- $20/hour, paid biweekly
- 1099 independent contractor position
- Mostly remote with occasional in\-person errands
- Start immediately
