Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Literacy supports the Executive Director of Literacy in ensuring high\-quality instruction and effectiveness in KG\-2nd CKLA and 3rd\-4th grade Science of Reading classrooms across assigned schools. This role works closely with principals, school leadership teams, and network departments to advance the organization’s instructional vision, ensure compliance, and promote a safe, high\-performing school culture. The role will also include creating and polishing lesson plans tied to the CKLA curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (K–4 or K–6\)
- Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in early literacy
- Deep knowledge of evidence\-based reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
- Familiarity with literacy assessment tools such as mCLASS literacy assessment platform and ability to analyze and apply student data
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support teachers to improve instructional practices
- Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Support the Executive Director of Literacy in overseeing the quality of instruction across assigned campuses and advancing “CKLA/SOR” instructional practices as outlined in TFS instructional documents
- Assist in coaching, supporting, and developing K\-4 CKLA/SOR teachers
- Provide instructional coaching and feedback to teachers, as directed, to improve classroom practice and student outcomes
- Maintain consistent in\-building presence (3–4 days per week) to collaborate with educators and support instruction
- Revise and enhance CKLA curriculum to align with current TFS standards and best practices
- Proficient in utilizing mCLASS literacy assessment platform for assessment, data analysis, and instructional planning
- Training and supporting educators in the effective use of mCLASS literacy assessment platform
- Participate in campus reviews and provide input on K\-4 CKLA/SOR performance
- Requires training in leading Texas Reading Academies courses
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the network’s mission and strategic goals Reporting Relationship
- Requires regular travel to support instructional coaching and program implementation
- The Assistant Director of Literacy reports directly to the Executive Director of Literacy
- Annual Base Salary: $90,000
- Start Date: July 1, 2026
- Location: Remote with frequent campus visits required
- Travel Requirements: Regular travel between campus locations required
- Locations of Travel: Permian Basin/Southeast TX or Texarkana
