FitLab is looking for a proactive and detail\-driven Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role offers the chance to own day\-to\-day transactional accounting and play a key part in producing accurate and timely financial statements that support strategic decision\-making across the organization.
As Senior Staff Accountant, you’ll be at the center of our month\-end close process—ensuring data integrity, streamlining workflows, and delivering draft financials to the Controller by the 5th of each month. Job Responsibilities:
* Month\-End Close \& Reporting \- Deliver accurate financials to the Controller by the 5th of each month using fast\-close procedures. Monitor the month\-end close timeline and resolve roadblocks to ensure timely and accurate close.
* Balance Sheet Reconciliations Maintain and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations; delegate and oversee reconciliations performed by team members.
* Team Oversight \& Leadership Supervise GL and AR clerks, holding weekly check\-ins, managing workloads, offering performance feedback, and ensuring proper training.
* Transaction Review \& Accuracy Review work from GL and AR clerks for accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to controls.
* Bank \& System Controls Ensure daily soft bank reconciliations are completed and that the accounting system is properly locked post\-close.
* Interdepartmental Collaboration Partner with operations and purchasing on vendor questions and inventory accounting matters.
* Intercompany \& Compliance Reconcile intercompany accounts and prepare compliance data for income tax and sales tax filings (including Avalara).
* Variance \& Performance Analysis Provide monthly budget vs. actual variance analysis and financial insight to support leadership decisions.
* Audit \& Special Projects Support audits, inventory counts, system conversions, and other cross\-functional accounting initiatives.
* Inbox \& Documentation Management Ensure the accounting inbox is managed and that source documentation is accurately filed in accounting systems/shared drives.
- Support the annual budget process by providing vendor level historical spend trend reports and notes
- Prepare compliance data for review by supervisor for income tax return preparation
- Review monthly sales tax returns ahead of automated filing through Avalara
- Support organizational\-wide projects such as the annual audit, inventory counts, consolidation of subsidiaries, accounting system conversions, and more
- At least 5\-7 years of experience in accounting, with a strong track record of managing month\-end close processes and providing accurate financial reports by strict deadlines.
- At least 3 years of experience managing an accounting team in an inventory business
- Full Circle ERP experience preferred NetSuite experience or similar
- Ability to prioritize time and communicate priorities in a demanding environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven Experience in Month\-End Close \& Reporting
- CPA preferred
- 3\+ years of demonstrated experience leading a team providing mentorship, training, and performance feedback.
- High attention to detail in reviewing financial transactions for accuracy and timeliness, with a deep understanding of internal controls.
- Expertise in completing bank reconciliations and securing accounting systems post\-close, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Ability to work cross\-functionally
- Knowledge of tax compliance (sales tax, income tax) and experience with preparing documentation for audits, tax returns, and external reporting.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
