LiveData Explained
Product Owner – Federal Health Systems
LiveData \| Remote, United States (Boston Metro Area preferred) \| Full\-Time
About LiveData
LiveData has spent more than two decades solving the hardest data problem in healthcare: capturing what is actually happening inside a hospital operating room — in real time — and turning that signal into clarity for the clinicians, coordinators, and administrators who run one of the most complex environments in medicine. No other company has done this longer or gone deeper.
Today, AI is accelerating both sides of that work — inside our product and engineering teams, and for the clinical users we serve. Our engineering team treats AI coding assistants as standard development tools, not experiments. LiveData was selected by Modern Healthcare as one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2025, its sixth consecutive year on the list.
The Role
We are hiring a Product Owner to serve as the primary product voice for our largest government customer — a federal health system operating more than 100 hospitals nationwide. This role sits at the intersection of complex enterprise requirements, formal customer governance, and agile delivery. You will translate what a system of this scale needs into clear, prioritized product requirements and ensure LiveData delivers on those commitments with consistency and clinical credibility.
You will participate in the customer’s formal governance processes — including the user group and change control board — while building day\-to\-day working relationships with clinical staff and program offices that surface what the system actually needs. This role involves up to 25% travel to federal medical centers and program offices. You will use Claude CoWork, Claude Code, and generative AI tools to prepare for stakeholder sessions, analyze requirements, and reduce administrative overhead so more of your time stays focused on the customer.
What You Will Do
- Represent the customer’s needs with clarity and authority inside LiveData — translating multi\-facility requirements into user stories with acceptance criteria that engineering can act on without mid\-sprint clarification
- Participate in the customer’s user group and change control board, ensuring LiveData’s product decisions move through formal approval processes on schedule
- Conduct structured discovery with clinical staff, administrators, and IT stakeholders at all levels; use root\-cause techniques including the “5 Whys” to surface problems beneath stated requests
- Own the product backlog: intake, triage, priority alignment, and dependency tracking across a complex, fast\-moving delivery portfolio
- Navigate auditability, data quality, and federal compliance requirements, ensuring product decisions reflect those constraints
- Drive sprint ceremonies and enforce Definition of Ready and Done at enterprise scale
- Build trust with stakeholders across the enterprise — from frontline clinical staff to national program leadership
- 3\+ years as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a software product environment
- Experience working in a hospital or health system with direct understanding of clinical workflows and frontline staff pressures
- Experience navigating complex, multi\-stakeholder enterprise environments and balancing priorities across clinical, operational, and executive audiences
- Proven ability to write user stories with clear acceptance criteria that engineering can execute without mid\-sprint clarification
- Proficiency with Jira or equivalent agile tools; clear written and verbal communication in both clinical and government\-facing contexts
- Demonstrated daily use of generative AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or equivalent) as part of your product management workflow
- Veteran status — firsthand understanding of VA culture and how care is delivered to veterans is a meaningful advantage
- Direct experience working in a hospital operating room or perioperative environment
- Familiarity with VistA (the VA’s EHR) or Oracle Health/Cerner, and healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR)
- Experience with government change control processes or formal customer user governance boards
- Familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks, including FedRAMP authorization
- Experience with use of agentic generative AI tools, such as Claude CoWork or Claude Code in a product or business workflow
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), PSPO, or equivalent agile certification
- Experience at a healthcare technology vendor
- Experience working in a SOC2 organization is a plus.
- The customer is a national health system. The scope spans every facility in that enterprise. The decisions you shape affect the consistency, quality, and efficiency of veteran care across the country.
- Governance is part of the job. Working within the customer’s formal structures — not around them — is how trust is built and how product decisions get approved and implemented at this scale.
- Veterans bring a unique edge. If you have served, you understand VA culture, mission, and how care reaches veterans. That makes you more credible and more effective from day one.
- AI\-assisted workflows are expected. We use AI tools daily; comfort with AI\-assisted work is a baseline, not a bonus.
