The Human Resources Coordinator provides essential administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team for Principia School and our Shared Services employees. This role is responsible for HR support, maintaining accurate systems and processes, and delivering responsive and exceptional customer service that promotes trust and respect across the School and Shared Services teams, as well as the broader Principia community.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources on our St. Louis campus, the HR Coordinator works closely with the HR team to ensure HR processes are completed accurately, consistently, and on time, and supporting employees and managers throughout the employment lifecycle. The Coordinator collaborates closely with faculty, staff, student employees, and campus leaders and supports the HR team in supporting onboarding and offboarding activities, frontline benefits support, recruitment and training efforts, HRIS data, and seasonal HR projects and events.
Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, organization, follow\-through, and a service\-oriented mindset. The HR Coordinator contributes to a positive employee experience by ensuring HR processes run smoothly and employees receive timely, accurate information—while operating within defined procedures and guidelines. The Coordinator also contributes to a positive and inclusive workplace culture by reinforcing Principia’s values and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, while working closely with the broader HR team to ensure alignment and consistent practices across Principia.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service and builds professional working relationships with faculty, staff, and candidates; responds to inquiries in a timely and professional manner, using discretion in when to escalate
- Maintains accuracy and integrity of HR records and systems, including ADP, HR Tracker, employee, and I\-9 files
- Prepares and processes contracts, hourly payroll records, authorizations, annual salary letters, amendments, and terminations; tracks and follows related processes, including HRIS data entry
- Supports employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding and offboarding, new employee orientation, and exit interviews
- Provides frontline benefits support by answering routine questions, sending enrollment information, and transitioning employee support to the Compensation and Benefits Manager when appropriate
- Coordinates HR communications and compliance\-related administration, including managing the HR inbox, routing inquiries, supporting mandatory training tracking, employment verifications, and other routine employee\-facing requests in alignment with established procedures
- Supports the execution of annual HR programs such as years\-of\-service recognition, holiday gifts, and employee farewell receptions
- Processes student employment paperwork and enters student employee information into ADP; provides administrative support to the Student Life Administrative Assistant, who manages hiring, scheduling, and performance\-related matters for student employees
- Manages HR office operations, including reception, conference and filing rooms, supplies, bulletin boards, website updates, and employee forms
- Supports HR office operations, including credit card reconciliation, check requests, and invoices
- Assists with documenting and improving processes to streamline HR operations, enhance efficiency, and strengthen consistency across School and College campuses
- Fosters a positive and inclusive employee experience by supporting workplace culture initiatives, reinforcing Principia’s values, and promoting trust and respect in all HR interactions
- Supports compliance by following established HR policies, procedures, and documentation requirements, aligning with legal requirements, internal policies, and best practices
- Collaborates regularly with the broader HR team to share information, coordinate processes, and ensure consistency across Principia.
- Conducts research and contributes to special HR projects as assigned
- Student of Christian Science preferred

- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 3 years related work experience
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office and databases
- Demonstrated experience in customer service and relationship\-building
- Experience with HRIS, preferably ADP Workforce Now
- Understanding of HR best practices

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive starting salary range for this position: $21\.12 \- $24\.07 hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
