*Assistant Manager of Youth and Family Programs*

The Assistant Manager of Youth and Family Programs plays a central role in the Learning Department’s robust offerings for young visitors and their families. This role supports the work of the Manager of Youth and Family Programs in the implementation of innovative, engaging programs for student field trips, community partners, scouts, and intergenerational families.

Reports to: Manager of Youth and Family Programming

Status: Full\-time, Non\-Exempt with benefits

Salary: $43,306 \- $48,720 based on experience

  • *Responsibilities:*

  • (40%) Under the direction of the Manager of Youth and Family Programming, grow the Frick’s revenue driven youth and family programming, including, but not limited to, scout programming, birthday party programming, and youth art workshops.
  • + Alongside the Manager of Youth and Family Programming and Studio leads, create and implement a menu of art\-based birthday party offerings.

    + In consultation with the Manager of Youth and Family Programming, create and implement a menu of onsite programs specific to Scouts.

    + With guidance from the Manager of Youth and Family Programming and alongside Studio Leads, create an annual slate of paid youth art workshops relating either to temporary exhibitions or the Frick’s permanent collection.

    + Assist with the planning and implementation of free family programming throughout the year.

    + Think creatively and strategically to identify future revenue opportunities for youth programming.

    + Either lead or serve as the day\-of program supervisor for scout programs, birthday parties, or youth workshops.

    + Work assigned duties for special events, such as admission check\-in, greeting, and activity tables

  • (20%) Assist the Manager of Youth and Family Programming with the implementation of student programming, both onsite and through offsite outreach.
  • + As training opportunities become available, attend and complete museum educator trainings for The Frick Art Museum, Clayton and the Car and Carriage Museum to become proficient in school program content

    + Upon completion of training, step in to serve as a museum educator for school programs (as needed)

    + Research and be knowledgeable in current education best practices and trends.

  • (15%) Administrative and Scheduling Duties
  • + Serve as the main point of contact for all program inquiries (scout, field trip, birthday parties, paid workshops, etc.); schedule and confirm visits within the Frick’s ticketing and attendance system, Tessitura.

    + Under the direction of the Manager of Youth and Family Programming, communicate with school teachers about field trip offerings, availability, etc.

    + Input and extract data from Tessitura for grant reporting purposes.

    + Manage and complete administrative tasks related to student and youth programming, including entering accurate information on the site calendar, creating program schedules, etc.

    + Work with the Manager of Youth and Family programming on annual budget and forecast revisions.

    + Assist in tracking, organizing, and ordering program supplies

    + Other duties as needed.

  • (15%) Help maintain and grow relationships with the Frick’s community partner organizations and coordinate annual programming with partners.
  • + Serve as the main point of contact for all of the Frick’s community partner organizations throughout the year

    + In consultation with the Manager of Youth and Family Programming, coordinate and schedule annual visits with community partners.

    + Work with the Manager of Youth and Family Programming and Studio Leads to develop yearly program content specific to each community partner’s goals and needs.

    + Maintain records of current community partnerships including contact information, attendance, and grant information.

  • (10%) Support the Manager of Youth and Family Programming in overseeing the work of museum educator staff.
  • + Assist the Manager of Youth and Family Programming in creating monthly work schedules for museum educator staff and Studio Leads

    + Assist the Manager of Youth and Family Programming in hiring and training museum educators

    + Serve as a day\-of point of contact for museum educator staff during youth programs; serve in a supervisory capacity when the Manager of Youth and Family Programming is unavailable

    + Work closely with scheduled museum educators to ensure programs are set up for success; troubleshoot unexpected issues or schedule changes

    Qualifications:

  • Commitment to fostering a workplace of inclusion and belonging.
  • Commitment to activating the Frick’s mission, vision, and values for young and intergenerational audiences through education.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive and professional working relationships with staff and visitors of all backgrounds.
  • BA in museum studies, education, or a related field OR comparable working experience preferred. Work/volunteer experience should be in education, museum studies or a related field.
  • Some supervisory or program lead experience is strongly preferred.
  • Possess a flexible teaching style and a demonstrated ability to teach children of varying ages, abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience with creating and implementing education strategies for a variety of audiences and understanding the needs of children of varying ages, abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds.
  • Reliable, punctual and willing to work a flexible schedule. This role should expect to work some weekends, some holidays (The Frick Pittsburgh is closed on Juneteenth, July Fourth, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and evenings as needed.
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills as this position requires coordinating programs and projects in a dynamic work environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Possess a highly refined attention to detail and well\-developed data\-entry skills.
  • Ability to adapt, problem solve and identify creative solutions during high\-pressure, quickly evolving situations.
  • Must have or attain PA criminal history, FBI fingerprinting, and PA child abuse clearances.
