Duties Description The Nursing Home Activities Assistant 1 will assist in the planning, preparing, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs with residents, including the memory care unit. The Nursing Home Activities Assistant 1 will encourage residents to participate in various activities and programs offered daily. They will also provide one\-on\-one visits to offer conversation, support, and materials for in\-room leisure activities; coordinate activities with other departments; encourage family involvement; observe and document resident attendance and degree of involvement; perform initial assessments, create care plans, and document progress notes as needed. The incumbent will observe residents and the environment for safety and remove barriers; follow diet consistencies at social, special events, and large gatherings; assist with passing trays and setting up at mealtimes. The Nursing Home Activities Assistant 1 will also be responsible for operating the facility bus/van for outings.

Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: 12 semester credit hours\\ in therapeutic recreation, arts, crafts, dance, drama, or physical education and one year of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting;ORA high school or high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting; ORFour years of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting.\\You must submit a list of qualifying courses with your application. You must indicate the course name, the number of semester credit hours for each course, the name of the school, and the date when the credits were earned.\\\*Direct client care experience includes, but is not limited to, attending to patients' personal hygiene, grooming, nutrition, and daily living needs. Examples of geriatric settings include, but are not limited to skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and adult day care facilities, and senior centers.Preferred Qualifications: Valid Class D Driver's License
