Studio \& Executive Design Assistant

Studio James \| Edwards, Colorado

Studio James is a high\-end residential interior design firm specializing in thoughtful, elevated homes throughout the Vail Valley and beyond. Our work requires precision, organization, and a deep respect for craftsmanship and detail.

We are seeking a Studio \& Executive Design Assistant to support our remote team across studio operations, design coordination, and field logistics. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast\-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in keeping complex projects organized and moving forward.

This position is hands\-on and dynamic, requiring both in\-studio presence and field support during installations and project milestones. “Boots on the Ground” supporting a remote team in a multitude of tasks.

Role Overview

The Studio \& Executive Design Assistant serves as the operational backbone of the studio, supporting the principal designer and SJ team in executing projects with exceptional attention to detail. This role bridges studio coordination, executive support, and field assistance to ensure the studio runs smoothly and projects remain organized and on schedule. You are the “boots on the ground” supporting a remote team in various tasks.

This is a high\-accountability role that requires a strong sense of ownership. The right person takes initiative, anticipates needs, and follows through without constant direction. Success in this role comes from being proactive, detailed, organized, and personally invested in keeping projects moving forward with a pep in your step.

Work Structure

This role is offered as a hybrid position, with a mix of in\-office and remote work.

Team members are typically expected to work in the studio 2–3 days per week, with the remaining days working remotely. Because project needs, meetings, and installations vary, the specific days in the office may change week to week. Flexibility is essential, and the right candidate will be comfortable adjusting their schedule to support the needs of the studio.

Who This Role May Not Be the Best Fit For

This position may not be the right fit for someone who:

  • Prefers a slower\-paced environment with highly defined, repetitive tasks
  • Is primarily interested in conceptual design rather than the operational side of bringing projects to life
  • Is uncomfortable managing multiple moving pieces or shifting priorities
  • Prefers limited responsibility or requires constant direction
  • Is seeking a strictly structured 9–5 role without occasional schedule flexibility during project milestones or installations
  • At Studio James, we move quickly, maintain high standards of detail, and rely on each team member to take ownership of their role.
