Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team. Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance information, and assist with new patient intake procedures
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Manage multi\-line phone systems, answer inquiries professionally, and direct calls appropriately
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Prepare and review medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist the dental team during procedures by sterilizing instruments, preparing treatment rooms, and providing chairside support
- Maintain accurate patient records, update medical histories, and document treatment notes with precision
- Handle billing processes including medical coding (CPT, ICD\-9/10\), medical collection efforts, and Medicare/Medicaid documentation review
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and maintain confidentiality of patient data
- Perform general clerical duties such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies to support smooth clinic operations
- Proven experience in a dental office setting or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and clinic procedures
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar practice management software; experience with Epic or Meditech is a plus
- Familiarity with medical billing, coding (ICD\-10/ICD\-9/CPT), insurance verification, and Medicare processes
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management standards to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn new software quickly
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology such as care plans is advantageous
