    Do you want to be an integral member of our Operational Team? We are hiring an Emergency Management Coordinator 1\. The primary focus of the position is to serve as the Alert \& Warning Coordinator for Pierce County Emergency Management. This includes administrative oversight of the Everbridge messaging platform as well as oversight and maintenance of the Pierce County All\-Hazards Outdoor Warning Siren system. Additionally, this position serves as the backup to the Department's Logistics Coordinator, assisting with fleet and equipment maintenance and upkeep and movement of deployable equipment to locations throughout the county.     PCDEM has a structured on\-boarding process that allows new employees to have access to critical departmental information. In addition, the supervisor and manager provide direct support to the team. This position will have immediate responsibility for oversight of the Everbridge messaging platform, as well as oversight and maintenance of the Pierce County All\-Hazards Outdoor Warning Siren system Your Future in this Role:

    Throughout the onboarding process, you will meet with the Supervisors, teams, and the admin team regularly to discuss expectations, set goals, identify priorities, and gain familiarity with current policies, procedures, and strategic measures. This position has multiple career growth and promotional opportunities in Pierce County to build a great career. Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Administer, coordinate, and develop specific emergency management programs and plans, such as emergency worker registration, Community Right\-to\-Know or the Local Emergency Planning Committee under Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986, emergency public education, hazard mitigation, recovery, support to the Emergency Medical Services Program and emergency management training.
  • Coordinate and lead various emergency response activities, including but not limited to activation of the Emergency Operations Center, search and rescue operations and hazardous materials spill operations.
  • Research, develop and maintain aspects of the Pierce County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan as assigned.
  • Act as a Duty Officer to respond to Department of Emergency Management responsibilities during regular and non\-business hours.
  • Represent the Emergency Management Program Manager and Department at public meetings.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Any combination of experience/education which would clearly indicates the ability to perform the duties of the position may substitute equally for the recruiting requirements on a year for year basis.
  • Bachelor’s degree AND
  • One\-year professional experience in Emergency Management or related activities is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Alert and Warning SAAS.
  • Audio electronic experience.

    Satisfactory physical condition, as evidenced by a county\-approved physical examination, may be required before appointment to the position.
