The City of Maplewood is seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a City Management Intern! This one\-year part time internship is an exciting opportunity to gain hands\-on experience in local government and make a real impact in our community.If you're looking for a routine data entry job, with no interaction or support this is not the position for you. This role is designed for those who are eager to learn, take on meaningful projects, and engage with city leadership.As a City Management Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with department heads across city management, finance, public safety, public works, community development, IT, communications and human resources. Your assignments will include: Assisting with community engagement events to connect with residents.Leading a self\-directed capstone project throughout the year.The ideal candidate will meet weekly with our Assistant City Manager and work mentor and will be given monthly projects that support a variety of departments. In addition to projects, candidates will participate in ride\-alongs, Gallup Strength Training and additional job trainings throughout their one\-year term. We anticipate the start date of the internship to be in late May/early June
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist with city administration projects.Support human resources functions such as recruitment and employee engagement.Contribute to community engagement activities and initiatives.Assist in budget preparation and financial planning efforts.Participate in programming within the City Clerk and Community Development departments.Work on a capstone project throughout the internship, culminating in a presentation to stakeholders.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Currently enrolled or completed a Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business administration, or human resources OR currently enrolled Masters of Public Administration (MPA) program.
