The Research Assistant will work as part of research team that investigates neural mechanisms of movement and gait disorders in patients with Parkinson disease and healthy adults. We use various brain mapping techniques (EEG, MRI, intraoperative electrophysiology) and sensors to record simultaneous brain activity and movement during simple computer and walking tasks or in immersive virtual reality environments. Duties include equipment inventory and ordering, coordinating laboratory personnel (post\-doctoral fellows, technicians, undergraduate volunteers) for performance of research studies, recruitment of study participants, data management and entry, assist in data collection and analysis, assist with regulatory approval. The Research Assistant will be directly supervised by the Principal Investigator and will work with other lab members including post\-doctoral scholars, undergraduate students and volunteers. Candidates should have excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively, and have a passion for neuroscience research. Prior research experience in a psychology or human neuroscience laboratory using one of the above techniques are preferred, but not required.

Hourly Salary Range: $28\.69 \- $34\.21\. Please note that the department’s target hourly range is $28\.69 \- $32\.68\.Qualifications

Required:

  • Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact, communicate, and work as a team member with the academic, research and administrative staff, students, and database and information systems personnel
  • Skills in working independently, ability to establish priorities to meet deadlines and accomplish established goals
  • Knowledge and experience using standard software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of computer programming/scripting (e.g., Matlab, Bash/Unix)
  • Knowledge and experience using image/EEG analysis software programs such as EEGlab, and/or other experience in quality control of EEG and/or MRI images of the human brain
  • Demonstrated experience with data management and recording
  • Knowledge of neuroanatomy, neuroscience, biomedical and electrical engineering, and/or related fields
