We are seeking a dedicated and detail\-oriented Administrative \& Medical Billing Specialist with expertise in Behavioral Health to join our team remotely on a part\-time, flexible basis. In this role, you will be the vital link ensuring accurate billing, coding, and documentation for behavioral health services. Responsibilities
- Review and process medical claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD\-9, ICD\-10, and ICD coding standards to ensure accurate billing for behavioral health services.
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, submitting claims through Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently.
- Manage medical records and documentation, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and maintaining precise records of all billing activities.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and outstanding medical collections to optimize revenue recovery.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies and ensure proper coding practices are followed.
- Stay current with updates in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance policies relevant to behavioral health billing.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling, data entry, and maintaining organized billing files to support smooth office operations.
- Work within CMS and Impact systems for billing\-related tasks
- Use Availity for eligibility checks, claim status, denials follow\-up, and payer messaging
- Manage credentialing and re\-credentialing processes and deadlines
- Complete/maintain CAQH profiles and assist with payer enrollment submissions
- Proven experience in medical billing within behavioral health or mental health settings.
- Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD\-9, ICD\-10, and ICD coding standards.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, EHR platforms, and medical office software.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation practices.
- Experience with medical collection processes and insurance claim submissions.
- Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and ensure compliance with billing regulations.
