We are seeking detail\-oriented Legal Assistant or paralegal to join our growing New York Real estate legal department in our Staten Island office location. Perfect entry to mid\-level position for a candidate seeking opportunity to grow with our practice with added increased responsibility and compensation over time as the practice group expands. Candidate will report directly to and support the department’s managing paralegal and the firm’s principal attorney. This is an “in office” position with the possibility for a limited remote work from home option over time for a strong candidate. Duties:
- Assisting with the residential real estate process and mortgage loan closing process from start to finish.
- Preparation/review of borrower closing disclosures, loan documents, review and clearance of title reports;
- Heavy direct interaction by email, telephone and written letter correspondence with clients, borrowers, lenders, attorneys, real estate agents and title companies;
- Manage and maintain accurate and organized client database and files, both electronic and physical, and real time maintenance and file status updates / data entry to Excel based file status \& inventory system.
- Maintenance of calendar and scheduling real estate closings \& loan closings.
- Electronic and paper recording of deeds mortgages and other documents, including use of Simplifile recording service, ACRIS system and Richmond County Land Records system.
- Preparation and circulation of contracts, deeds, transfer tax documents, title documents, and other documents for review/electric signature.
- Preparation of monthly closed transactions reports.
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys, paralegals and staff in office.
- Experience in a NY real estate related paralegal or support role in a legal setting preferred. Candidates with prior law office and related residential real estate or mortgage loan closing/bank attorney experience preferred. Paralegal certificate preferred. Legal Assistant with appropriate experience also welcome to apply. Candidates with mortgage lender, loan processor experience, title company or title closer experience are also welcome to apply.
- Proficiency in using Easysoft, Microsoft Office platform, Clio database system, Simplifile, Quickbooks, Cosmolex, and other administrative software including digital/electronic signature and document delivery software such as Clio and Adobe Sign.
- NY Notary License preferred.
- Bi\-lingual (English and Spanish) applicant a plus.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- A willingness to excel in a deadline driven and high\-volume team\-oriented practice is a must.
- Computer and related technology skills a plus.
