Safety Trainer / Office AssistantJob Type: Full\-Time Industry: Trucking / Transportation Location: Columbus, OH (REMOTE FROM HOME) Pay: Competitive pay based on experience Schedule: Monday–Friday 4:00 PM – Midnight (2nd Shift) \| Saturday–Sunday on\-callPosition OverviewWe are seeking a reliable, organized, and safety\-minded Safety Trainer / Office Assistant to join our trucking company, Milanovic Inc. This position requires someone who can communicate effectively with drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and management while supporting driver safety, compliance, training, and daily office operations during our second\-shift hours.The ideal candidate is comfortable working remotely while staying deeply connected with our transportation team, understands the critical importance of preventative maintenance, and possesses a solid grasp of federal transportation safety guidelines.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety, Training \& DOT Compliance Conduct new\-driver orientation and safety training. Provide ongoing training on safe driving practices, company policies, and federal safety guidelines. Talk directly with drivers regarding safety concerns, logbook performance, training, and company procedures. Communicate with drivers regularly to identify safety issues and proactively address concerns. Conduct and assist with mandatory driver safety meetings. Maintain accurate driver training logs, qualification files (DQFs), and compliance records. Manage DOT/FMCSA compliance documentation, including monitoring drug and alcohol clearinghouse checks, medical certificate expirations, and motor vehicle records (MVRs). Track driver hours of service (HOS) and electronic logging device (ELD) data to ensure total regulatory compliance. Monitor required driver documents and tracking deadlines. Assist with accident and incident documentation, ensuring proper FMCSA accident register records are kept. Follow up with drivers regarding safety\-related yard issues and corrective actions. Driver \& Mechanic Communication Communicate directly with drivers and mechanics regarding vehicle safety and maintenance concerns. Follow up with mechanics on reported equipment issues and completed repairs. Help ensure drivers report vehicle defects and safety concerns promptly via Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR). Coordinate seamless communication between drivers, mechanics, dispatch, and management. Monitor recurring equipment or safety issues and bring concerns to management's attention. Help promote proper pre\-trip and post\-trip inspection procedures to guarantee roadability. Assist in maintaining accurate vehicle and maintenance\-related records. Office Administration Maintain organized driver, vehicle, and company files. Enter and update information efficiently in company tracking systems (Motive, etc.). Prepare reports, forms, presentations, and professional correspondence. Answer phones, emails, and general inquiries from applicants or partners. Schedule training, meetings, and appointments. Perform general administrative and clerical duties to support fleet operations. Maintain strict confidentiality of company and employee information. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree required. Background Checks: Must have clean background check history with NO felonies or misdemeanors. DOT Regulations: Must have knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations (including Hours of Service, Driver Qualification Files, drug/alcohol screening protocols, and maintenance compliance). Industry Experience: Previous experience in the trucking or transportation industry preferred. Functional Background: Experience in safety, compliance, driver training, maintenance coordination, or office administration is strongly preferred. Communication: Ability to communicate professionally, firmly, and effectively with commercial drivers and mechanics. Skills: Strong organizational, attention to detail, and problem\-solving skills. Technical Setup: Must have a dedicated PC/laptop, a reliable high\-speed internet connection, and 24/7 cellphone access. Comfortable using computers, email, and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Work Ethic: Ability to work independently from a remote environment and maintain a dependable, professional attitude. Extras: A valid CDL, commercial trucking experience, or bilingual skills are major pluses. We Offer Competitive pay based on experience.
