Ancestors’ Seeds Primary Classroom (Ages 2\.5\-6\)Overview The Lead Teacher serves as the primary guide and classroom leader for 20 students in our Afrocentric Montessori environment. This role encompasses direct instruction, environmental management, family communication, and team leadership to ensure each child receives individualized, culturally affirming education aligned with authentic Montessori principles. Core Teaching Responsibilities Direct Instruction \& Guidance Provide individual and small group lessons across all Montessori curriculum areas (Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Cultural Studies) Integrate Afrocentric elements into daily lessons and cultural presentations Guide children's independent work and exploration Model grace, courtesy, and conflict resolution techniques Facilitate mixed\-age learning and peer mentoring opportunities Classroom Environment Management Maintain the prepared environment according to Montessori principles Ensure materials are complete, organized, and accessible Create and maintain classroom systems that support independence Manage classroom flow and maintain peaceful learning atmosphere Administrative \& Planning Responsibilities Materials Management Maintain comprehensive inventory of all classroom materials Manage the scope and sequence of material roll\-out based on individual student readiness Assess and order new materials as needed Ensure materials reflect Afrocentric values and diverse representation Student Assessment \& Documentation Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of each child's progress Maintain detailed records of individual student work and development Track mastery of skills across all curriculum areas Document social\-emotional growth and cultural learning Prepare comprehensive progress reports for fall and spring progress meeting Calendar \& Curriculum Management Plan and adjust daily/weekly classroom schedule based on student needs Coordinate special events, celebrations, and cultural observances Adapt curriculum pacing to meet individual and group developmental needs Integrate seasonal themes and cultural celebrations Family Communication \& Partnership Regular Communication Send weekly updates to parents through GroupMe or another communication platform Document student work and progress with photos and detailed observations Respond to parent questions and concerns in timely manner Maintain open communication about individual student needs Family Education \& Engagement Prepare and send monthly newsletter highlighting curriculum focus and learning objectives Educate families about Montessori methodology Provide guidance on supporting learning at home Share insights about child development and individual student progress Parent Conferences Lead comprehensive parent\-teacher conferences twice yearly (fall and spring) Prepare detailed progress reports and work samples Collaborate with families on supporting student growth Address any concerns or celebrate achievements Team Leadership \& Collaboration Staff Management Supervise and guide Assistant Teacher in classroom support roles Coordinate with assistants on daily classroom tasks and special projects Delegate appropriate responsibilities while maintaining classroom standards Assistant Training \& Support Train assistants on proper cleaning and maintenance of materials Teach shelf organization and material presentation standards Guide assistants in appropriate child interactions and support techniques Establish clear expectations for assistant roles and responsibilities Additional Responsibilities School Community Participation Attend school\-wide meetings and professional development sessions Participate in school events and community celebrations Collaborate with other teachers and school leadership Contribute to school's mission of Afrocentric education Emergency \& Safety Procedures Maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures and safety protocols Ensure classroom safety and child supervision at all times Communicate any safety concerns or incidents to administration Participate in required training and drills Pay: From $24\.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Employee discount Flexible schedule Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Application Question(s): Do you have a Primary Montessori certification?
