Engagement: FT, or PT with Flex, Platform: AppFolio / Dutchie, Portfolio: Multi\-Entity CRE, Reports to: CEO / Ownership ABOUT NORTHSTAR GROWTH COMPANIES Northstar Growth Companies is a multi\-brand investment firm operating across commercial real estate, title services, and cannabis retail. Four brands sit under the platform. AlphaDiv Real Estate Fund, our commercial real estate investment fund. Commercial Investors Group, our brokerage and asset management arm. Velora Title, our title and closing services company. Chillwater Cannabis Shop, our retail operation. We focus on simplicity, technology\-driven solutions, and big\-picture thinking. We run on EOS. This role sits across all four brands, not one. THE ROLE We are hiring a CFO / Integrator to own the financial and leadership infrastructure of the entire Northstar platform. This is a dual\-mode seat. You set strategy and you execute it. Your primary goal is simple. Drive EBITDA and Enterprise Value for each brand. Every responsibility below serves that goal. SCOPE OF WORK Organized by function, not sequence. Strategic (Quarterly, 1\-2 days) Drive EBITDA improvement brand by brand through margin, pricing, and cost analysis Identify and pursue enterprise value creation opportunities Own consolidated financial performance across all four Northstar brands Advise ownership on capital requirements and allocations across brands Master of Scorecards (Weekly, 5 hrs) Serve as master of scorecards across all Northstar brands Own execution of the EOS framework within each brand Post scorecard entries in EOSone and run the L10 meetings Hold brand leaders accountable to their numbers Accounting Controls (Weekly, 5 hrs) Oversee accounting virtual assistant Review payables for accuracy, coding, and duplicates Process journal entries for accruals and adjustments Audit commissions and process payroll Ensure all invoicing is accurate and up\-to\-date Verify bank reconciliations are completed correctly Payroll audit, processing, reporting, and accounting Audit, adjust, and normalize the general ledger for accuracy and completeness New vendor and employee setup Enrollment in financial and benefits programs Audit move\-in and move\-out accounting Clean non\-cleared transaction queue Verify all diagnostics are zeroed out Setup and maintain tax accounts Calculate and process investor dividends and quarterly distributions Prepare net asset valuations Produce quarterly and annual investor reporting Underwriting \& Capital Markets (Project based, varies) Underwrite all new acquisitions Build and stress\-test deal models on risk, return, and cash flow Prepare loan requests, sworn statements, and draw requests Coordinate entity formation, EIN and state tax ID registration Review closing and entity documents, abstract leases, set up new property accounting Post acquisition journal entries Send lender RFPs and respond to lender RFIs Create equity pitch decks and attend prospective investor meetings Respond to all inquiries for data requests tied to loan requests, sales, acquisitions, and lender loan compliance Prepare drive folders for loan requests and diligence Own annual lender compliance reporting Serve as the single point of accountability for diligence turnaround speed and accuracy Asset Management (Project based, varies) Negotiate insurance pricing across all Northstar brands Challenge property taxes across all assets and manage the appeal process Review recurring vendor spend for renegotiation opportunities Pursue delinquent tenants and manage collections agency relationships Turn evictions over to the legal team Data Analysis \& Prep (Project based, varies) Prepare property and parcel datasets for marketing use Oversee AI prompting to generate clean, usable data files Establish standards for data hygiene, deduplication, and output quality Annual Accounting, Tax \& Legal (Annual, 1 week) Review and approve legal contracts, including leases Coordinate cost segregation studies CAM reconciliation, review, and charge adjustments Operating, corporate, and CAM budgets Capex financial review Renew entities with the Secretary of State Ensure compliance with IRS280E and METRc Coordinate preparation of tax returns and K\-1s with the CPA Produce the annual report by brand WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The right person thinks like an owner and works like an operator. They can sit in a strategy conversation about enterprise value in the morning and audit a ledger in the afternoon. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field CPA or equivalent designation highly preferred 5\+ years in real estate or fund accounting, including net leases with CAM reconciliations Demonstrated controller or CFO\-level ownership of a multi\-entity general ledger Hands\-on AppFolio Property Manager experience, ideally across multiple entities Acquisition underwriting experience Payroll processing and compliance experience Able to commute 2\-3x per week to Bloomington, MN Required Skills Proficiency with real estate property management and accounting systems. AppFolio Property Manager and AppFolio Investment Manager preferred. QuickBooks, Yardi, or RealPage acceptable Mastery of advanced Google Sheets and Excel formulas including VLOOKUP, ARRAYFORMULA, SUMIF, and logical functions, plus pivot tables, data validation, and conditional formatting Comfortable owning the General Ledger and GL Accounting Tree end to end, not just reviewing it Working fluency with AI tools for data preparation and file generation Negotiation ability with insurance carriers, vendors, and taxing authorities Excellent written communication High accuracy under recurring monthly deadlines Works independently, communicates proactively, and takes ownership Organized and superb attention\-to\-detail WHAT WE OFFER The Opportunity Flexible hybrid work environment Full time or part\-time flexible seat with enterprise\-wide scope Direct access to ownership and real decision authority Remote\-friendly work environment Collaborative and supportive culture How to Apply Send your resume along with a short note on your AppFolio experience, your CRE accounting background, and one example of a cost or EBITDA improvement you personally drove.
