Inbound Account Executive — AI Tax Software SmartWiz \| Birmingham, Alabama \| On\-site Full\-time Target OTE: Approximately $85,000 \| $22/hour base \+ uncapped commission Close customers. SmartWiz is building the financial operating system for millions of Americans—starting with an AI\-powered platform that helps independent tax professionals and CPAs prepare returns in minutes. Our AI tax assistant, Wizzy, reads a client’s documents, drafts the return, and enters the information directly into the professional tax software the preparer already uses. That means less re\-keying, fewer tabs, and more time serving clients and growing their businesses. SmartWiz is headquartered in Birmingham, with a new office in Silicon Valley. We are SOC 2 compliant and serve independent tax offices across the country. We now have a good problem: more tax professionals are requesting demonstrations than our current team can serve. We are hiring Inbound Account Executives who can lead excellent product demonstrations, manage a disciplined follow\-up pipeline, and close the right customers. This is an inbound sales role. It is not a cold\-calling position. What you will own You will own the sales process from the first conversation through signed contract and initial payment. Lead approximately 4–8 qualified video demonstrations and sales conversations per day, depending on deal complexity and pipeline needs. Confirm booked demonstrations and proactively manage your calendar to reduce no\-shows. Begin each conversation with discovery to understand the prospect’s business, current workflow, software, return volume, and goals. Demonstrate Wizzy live and tailor the presentation to what matters most to each customer. Explain pricing clearly, confidently, and honestly. Ask for the sale, collect the customer’s required initial payment, and schedule onboarding before the call ends. Complete a same\-day warm handoff to the onboarding team with accurate notes about the customer’s software, volume, workflow, and objectives. Follow up consistently with interested prospects who are not ready to purchase during the first conversation. Maintain accurate customer activity, notes, deal stages, contract values, and next steps in HubSpot. Surface recurring customer questions, objections, product issues, and opportunities to the teams building SmartWiz. Be honest about where the product is strongest and when it may not yet be the right fit. We earn trust by telling the truth. You do not need tax\-software experience before joining SmartWiz. Every Account Executive completes the paid SmartWiz Academy, which covers the product, professional tax fundamentals, the tax professional’s workflow, our sales methodology, and demonstration certification before taking solo calls. You need to be comfortable with technology, eager to learn, and capable of becoming a credible product expert. What success looks like Within your first 90 days, you will be able to: Lead a complete SmartWiz demonstration independently. Understand a tax professional’s workflow and connect the product to their specific business needs. Run effective discovery conversations instead of delivering a generic product pitch. Close qualified opportunities without overpromising or immediately relying on discounts. Maintain consistent follow\-up so qualified opportunities do not go cold. Keep an accurate, organized, and actionable pipeline in HubSpot. Deliver clean handoffs that prepare the onboarding team and customer for success. Demonstrate strong product knowledge, coachability, sales judgment, and personal accountability. Success is measured by more than signed contracts. We evaluate revenue closed, conversion, customer retention, follow\-up discipline, CRM accuracy, product knowledge, handoff quality, and the overall customer experience. A sale is only successful when the customer understands what they purchased and has a clear path to using it. You may be a great fit if You communicate with warmth, confidence, and credibility. You listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions before presenting a solution. You have experience in sales, customer service, account management, financial services, software, or a tax office. You are comfortable leading video calls, sharing your screen, using a CRM, and guiding customers through digital signup and payment. You learn software quickly and enjoy understanding how products work. You can adapt your approach to the customer instead of depending entirely on a script. You can manage a full demonstration calendar and follow\-up pipeline without allowing important details to fall through the cracks. You are comfortable explaining value, discussing price, and directly asking for the sale. You welcome recorded\-call reviews, coaching, repetition, and measurable performance expectations. You are available for a schedule that includes some evenings and one weekend day, with corresponding weekday flexibility. You want meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to grow with an early\-stage technology company. A college degree is not required. We care more about your ability, judgment, communication, curiosity, coachability, and track record. Earning opportunity Target on\-plan earnings are approximately $85,000 annually. Commission is uncapped, and strong performers who exceed their monthly revenue target may earn more than $100,000 annually. What this role is not This is not a cold\-outbound position, a scripted call center, or a role where you are putting the sale over the customer. Calls are recorded and reviewed because coaching is a central part of how we improve. You should want feedback, accountability, repetition, and the opportunity to become exceptional at consultative selling. This role will not be a fit for someone who dislikes live software demonstrations, avoids direct sales conversations, resists performance coaching, or requires a traditional Monday\-through\-Friday daytime schedule.
