The full\-time schedule will include three (3\) assigned workdays each week in Milam County and two (2\) assigned workdays within the Center's catchment area, which includes Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, and Lampasas Counties, based on operational needs. The Center will also consider qualified applicants seeking a part\-time schedule of 24 hours (three days) per week. For a part\-time position, all three assigned workdays will be in Milam County. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides advanced (journey\-level) nursing services in an outpatient mental health clinic setting. Under the supervision of a licensed prescriber or Registered Nurse, the LVN delivers direct patient care, medication management, clinical assessments, and documentation to support safe, effective, and compliant medical services. This position exercises considerable independent judgment within scope of licensure and may provide support for in\-person and telemedicine services, as well as guidance and training to other staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide vocational nursing services in support of prescribers and Registered Nurses for in\-person and telemedicine appointments, in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Board of Nursing rules, and LMHA policies. Review patient records to ensure completion of medication consents and required clinical documentation in compliance with Texas Administrative Code (TAC), LMHA standards, and regulatory requirements. Perform focused nursing assessments, including physical and mental health indicators, within LVN scope of practice, and report findings, observations, and concerns to prescribers or supervising nurses. Accurately measure, monitor, and document vital signs, including height, weight, body mass index (BMI), pulse, blood pressure, and temperature. Administer medications orally and by injection as ordered by authorized prescribers and in accordance with LVN scope, supervision requirements, and agency protocols. Receive, document, and carry out verbal, written, and telephonic medication orders from authorized prescribers, consistent with Texas Board of Nursing rules and Center policy. Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), document results, and promptly communicate findings to prescribers for review and interpretation. Collect laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and breath samples, as permitted within scope and training; document and report results and implement prescriber\-directed interventions. Support prescription preparation processes, medication workflows, refill coordination, and accurate documentation of medication release in designated clinical systems. Monitor, supervise, and document consumers’ self\-administration of medications in accordance with LMHA policy and prescriber direction. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of nursing services in the electronic health record (EHR) and other required clinical systems. Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary treatment team members, pharmacies, laboratories, and external healthcare providers to support coordinated and continuous care. Adhere to infection control standards, safety procedures, confidentiality (HIPAA), and quality management requirements applicable to a public mental health authority. Serve as a clinical resource for non\-licensed staff by providing guidance, education reinforcement, and training support within LVN scope and delegation standards. Utilize approved verbal de\-escalation techniques to assist individuals experiencing emotional distress, behavioral escalation, or psychiatric symptoms. Demonstrate professional, ethical, and respectful conduct in all interactions, consistent with Central Counties Services’ mission, trauma\-informed care principles, cultural sensitivity, and Center policies. Maintain current LVN licensure, required certifications, competencies, and complete all mandatory training and continuing education within established deadlines. Organize and prioritize work responsibilities, follow clinical directives, and exercise sound vocational nursing judgment under appropriate supervision. Maintain regular attendance, dependability, and reliability to support continuity of care and clinic operations. Work location may vary based on program and service needs and is not guaranteed; frequent daily driving within the LMHA service area may be required. Perform related duties as assigned and consistent with scope of practice. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES PREFERRED: Experience in outpatient mental health or behavioral health nursing. Familiarity with EHR and telemedicine systems. REQUIRED: Proficiency in vocational nursing procedures. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and regulatory compliance. Commitment to trauma\-informed care and cultural sensitivity. Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise sound judgment. Ability to remain flexible and organized understanding that the nature of the position may require frequent re\-prioritizations of duties and demands. Ability to remain calm and professional under stressful or high\-pressure situations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from a state\-approved LVN program required. High school diploma or GED required. One year or more nursing experience preferred. LICENSES AND REQUIREMENTS Current LVN license in Texas or compact state. CPR/BLS certification required. Completion of required Center trainings. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Ability to pass background and health screenings. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to drive, stand, sit, walk, bend, and move throughout the clinic. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to respond appropriately to emotional distress. ENVIRONMENT Primarily Outpatient mental Health Clinics. May also be assigned to Crisis Respite or to assist the ACT/FEP staff with home visits. In\-person and telemedicine services. Primarily daytime hours; occasional evenings may be required. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires the ability to: Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Respond appropriately to challenging or unpredictable situations, including safely de\-escalating and managing interactions with individuals who may exhibit verbally or physically escalated behavior, in accordance with training and Center policies. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position safely and effectively, including maintaining professionalism, sound judgment, appropriate interpersonal interactions, concentration, and the ability to respond appropriately in stressful or crisis situations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
