Job title: Chief of Staff to the Founder Company: Spring Bird Location: Austin, TX (on\-site) Job type: Full\-time Pay: $90,000 to $115,000 per year About Spring Bird: Spring Bird is a rapidly growing transit bus sales, leasing, and maintenance company headquartered in Austin, with operations in Texas and California. Our founder is a fourth\-generation transit professional, part of a family legacy in the industry dating back to 1943\. Since 2020 we have grown from a startup into one of a small number of companies in the United States serving the heavy\-duty transit bus market end to end. We are hiring a Chief of Staff to help the founder scale the company through its next stage of growth. The role: The Chief of Staff is the founder’s operating partner. Spring Bird runs lean, with a single decision\-maker across sales, operations, finance, legal, and HR, and the flow of information and commitments through that one seat is now the constraint on growth. Your mandate is to remove that constraint. You will manage the flow of information to and from the founder, prepare him for meetings and close the loops after them, and maintain a single source of truth for every decision and commitment made across the leadership team, following each one through to completion. You will coordinate between the founder and the executive team so that priorities, deadlines, and accountability are documented and visible rather than dependent on memory and hallway conversations. You will also serve as a second set of eyes on the administrative and operational side of the business, reviewing payroll, insurance, compliance, and vendor matters for accuracy and surfacing issues early. Over time, you will take ownership of special projects that do not yet have a home, from process buildouts to new business initiatives. What we are looking for: Two to six years of professional experience in engineering, operations, finance, consulting, or a similarly analytical field. A track record as the person who kept complex work on schedule and complete. Exceptional written communication, with the ability to turn fast\-moving verbal direction into clear, organized, written output. The organizational discipline to track hundreds of open items without letting one slip. The judgment to know what needs the founder and what does not. The professional maturity to work daily with senior leaders, document their commitments, and follow up persistently and respectfully. Absolute discretion with sensitive information. An interest in eventually leading a business of your own, and the understanding that this seat is one of the best educations available for that path. What this role is not: It is not an executive assistant position, though calendar and correspondence run through it. It is not a slow\-paced corporate staff job. The founder moves quickly, communicates directly, and holds a high standard. The right candidate will find that energizing.
