Director of Tournament Operations Location: Riverside County, CA (with travel across Southern California and beyond) Job Type: Part\-Time (with clear path and expectation to transition to Full\-Time as operations scale) About Us We are transforming the amateur sports experience by blending high\-level competition with a modern, high\-energy entertainment format. Think of the most exciting, viral, and fast\-paced sports entertainment experiences currently shaking up the industry—we are bringing that same level of innovation, fan engagement, and "wow factor" to the amateur baseball and softball circuit. We are not just hosting tournaments; we are creating a unique, high\-production atmosphere that redefines what families and athletes expect from a weekend on the field. We are looking for a visionary operational leader to help us scale this one\-of\-a\-kind product across Riverside County and beyond. Position Summary We are seeking a high\-energy, proactive Director of Tournament Operations to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of our rapidly expanding sports entertainment circuit. This is a part\-time role initially, with the expectation to transition into a full\-time leadership position as we scale our tournament operations across Riverside County and the broader region. The ideal candidate is a "boots\-on\-the\-ground" leader with deep\-rooted connections to city officials, field managers, and local vendor networks who can help us secure and manage premier venues. You will not just be running tournaments; you will be building a high\-energy, entertainment\-driven atmosphere that elevates the game for every athlete and fan. Key Responsibilities Regional Relationship Management: Utilize existing relationships to secure top\-tier field access in Riverside County and beyond, negotiating permits and maintaining long\-term partnerships with Parks and Recreation departments. Operational Leadership: Oversee all aspects of tournament logistics, from field preparation and load\-in/load\-out procedures to tournament scheduling. Staff Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage a high\-performing team of onsite tournament staff, grounds crews, and support personnel. Entertainment Culture: Collaborate with the "Clownpire Crew" and other entertainment assets to ensure every event delivers a viral, fan\-interactive experience that exceeds standard amateur event expectations. Event Execution: Serve as the primary onsite lead during tournament weekends, managing game flow, rule enforcement, and real\-time operational troubleshooting. Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between our brand, coaches, parents, and city officials to ensure seamless event alignment. Required Qualifications Experience: 5\+ years in sports administration, large\-scale event management, or tournament operations. The "Local" Network: A proven track record of working with city officials, field management, and facility staff in Riverside County and neighboring territories. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage high\-energy environments, lead under pressure, and make critical, autonomous decisions on\-site. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to represent our unique brand professionally to diverse stakeholders. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in tournament management software, Microsoft Excel, and modern mobile event applications. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Management, or related field. Deep experience with youth baseball/softball or adult slowpitch tournament circuits. Entrepreneurial mindset—someone comfortable working in a scaling business environment. Working Conditions \& Requirements Flexibility: Must be available to work evenings and weekends (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are prime event days). Mobility: Ability to work outdoors in all conditions and handle the physical requirements of equipment setup and event management. Travel: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to navigate event sites throughout the region. Here are a few ideas to help you filter candidates effectively: Custom Application Questions: Add a few specific questions to the Indeed application process that require more than a "yes" or "no" answer. Example: "List three specific contacts or departments within Riverside County Parks and Recreation you have worked with previously, and briefly describe the nature of those relationships". Example: "Describe a time you had to troubleshoot a tournament\-ending logistics issue on\-site—what was the outcome?". "Showball" Case Study: Ask candidates to provide a 3\-sentence summary of how they would improve the fan experience at a standard, boring amateur tournament. This will immediately show you who understands your vision for "high\-production" entertainment. Proof of Network: During the phone screen, ask them to identify the biggest challenge for field access in the Coachella Valley or surrounding areas. Someone with real, deep\-rooted experience in that specific region will be able to give a concrete, knowledgeable answer, while someone bluffing will likely provide a generic response. Referral Requests: Since connections are the most important part of this role, ask the candidate to provide at least one reference who is a current or former employee of a city's Parks and Recreation department or a facility manager. Job Title: Co\-Director of Tournament Operations (Commission \& Profit\-Share Partnership) Job Summary: We are a high\-energy sports entertainment tournament circuit scaling across the Southwest.
