Job Details: DST TRUCK MECHANIC TRAINEE (SIOUX CITY, IOWA L.H. GARAGE) Trailer preventive maintenance technician will work cross\-functionally across multiple areas of the garage, responsibilities include but are not limited to performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trailers, performing emergency mechanical or electrical failures. Ability to diagnose and repair brake and wheel end failures on trailers. Ability to perform minor structural welding and cutting task. Ability to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment and the ability to effectively communicate with all transportation personnel including managers, drivers, and clerks. Must be able to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics. Along with basic math skills are necessary to perform these tasks at a satisfactory level. Basic computer skills will be necessary to document information, process daily work orders, and complete required documentation. Trailer tech may be required to perform service calls on equipment at remote locations; a current valid driver’s license is required. Must pass MVR check: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a valid driver’s license Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months Qualifications: ME01: (Trainee) + Tools Required (See Attached) + Must have 3 months of continuous work history in the last 6 months with single employer listed on application. + Upon hire, team member will be required to advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date. (If not obtained then team member will be considered unable to meet job requirements) Show proficiency on standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers depending on mechanic classification) Brake Inspector Certification Wheel end class/certification Basic Electrical Identify fault codes Team member will be required to show proficiency with all tasks above before advancement. This will be graded by completing the preventive maintenance process and then work reviewed by Shop Manager, Shop Supervisor, Lead, and two senior technicians) Shop Manager/Supervisor will give official sign off. Applicants may be considered for ME02 or higher at the time of offer if they meet the one of following requirements: Must have 6 months experience at a Shop/Garage, as a mechanic. Or Class 8 experience (semi\-experience) Starting Pay: $23\.85/hr Prior Tyson Team members are eligible for rehire after completing a 180\-day waiting period. Prior Tyson Team members cannot have worked 3 times or more for Tyson Foods.
