SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, maintains work orders and assist in the billing process by performing duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

60% Prepares and sends bills out on all water and sewer districts. Checks and cross references of Uniguns reports for over reads, wrong readings, prepares final bills, names changes to new owner or renters, takes rental deposits, turn\-on fees, etc. Records and reads computer files and records all phone or card readings into computer, taking checkouts to IBM for processing. Files any change sheets into proper districts, checking on water and sewer permits. To compile needed data.

10% Answers phones and responds to billing inquires, meter readers, stuck meters, etc. Type letters on meter reading, rental deposits, setting meter/remote, service calls and mail to customers. Accepts payments at counter as needed.

10% Records certifications information, types research information from Auditor’s office or in computer. Enters data into the computer and runs certification list.

10% Answers and responds to billing inquiries and assist in the resolution of customer complaints. Analyze account receivables and determine resolution of it with delinquent customer. Sends out termination notices and coordinates this function with other Utility Clerks. Computes special billings of major customers per master meter readings and corresponding inquires or complaints.

10% Sets up all new accounts per permits, reviews with engineering department and coordinates billing type as to meter readings, SRE’s or Wells. Transcribes data from office records such as customer’s name, address, and services rendered. Calculates totals, net amounts, and discounts, and records computations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one\-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in different situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to use data entry terminal and other software applications as required (i.e. word processing, Lotus).
