This role is primarily onsite, with some time dedicated in the field to support data collection, ground\-truthing, and project needs. Hybrid remote work may be possible at times based on project demands, scheduling, and supervisor approval.

Who you are: In your personal life you enjoy the outdoors \- whether it be backpacking, hiking, hunting, fishing, or skiing. You have a cheerful outlook, excellent work ethic, and a desire to learn new skills. You hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources with a strong emphasis in GIS, Remote Sensing, and Statistics, or a degree in GIS, Statistics, or a related field with supporting coursework in natural resources. You have working experience with Python and SQL applied to geospatial data, and familiarity with spatial modeling and machine learning techniques. You have experience with LiDAR data processing, drone\-based imagery collection and processing, and are comfortable applying AI tools — including large language models and code assistants to analytical workflows with sound professional judgment. You can independently discern, analyze, and solve problems, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly across technical and non\-technical audiences. You engage constructively in technical discussions, respectfully advocate alternative approaches, and support and execute the final decision once made.

What the job is: The Geospatial Analyst supports the Sr. Geospatial Scientist in property\-scale geospatial analysis, spatial modeling, and reporting that underpins Green Diamond’s Habitat Conservation Plans (HCP), Safe Harbor Agreement, and other landscape agreements, along with the scientific monitoring and research arising from those agency partnerships. The position applies GIS tools, Python scripting, remote sensing, drone\-based imagery, and LiDAR to planning efforts including watershed studies, property\-wide TMDLs, and wildlife and fisheries monitoring programs. The work involves large spatial datasets and production geospatial workflows across the ownership, collaborating with Biologists, Botanists, Geologists, and Operations personnel.

Here are some examples of the work this role will do:

  • Conduct geospatial analysis of forestry\-operation effects on wildlife, plants, and ecosystems; extract and prepare spatial and tabular data for mandated HCP and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate on geospatial scripting, tool development, and AI\-assisted workflow projects using both external and internal resources.
  • Contribute to the development of habitat suitability and other spatial models, including machine learning and AI techniques, in support of Conservation Planning goals.
  • Plan, execute, and process drone\-based imagery collection for monitoring, modeling, and project evaluation, including AI\-based image classification where applicable.
  • Assist with study design, data analysis, interpretation, and writing scientific papers and technical reports.
  • Develop and maintain database management systems and geospatial data pipelines; serve as on\-site resource for GIS hardware, software, and scripting environments.
  • Evaluate and apply AI and machine learning tools to geospatial analysis and imagery workflows and help guide their responsible use within the department.

If there are aspects of this job that would be new for you, we will help you learn and expand your knowledge into other areas of the department. Our goal is for you to have a long\-term career here with our company.

Where you’ll work: Experience Northern California at its best as you work across nearly 400,000 acres of Green Diamond’s privately held forestlands in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Mendocino counties. Based in Korbel, you’ll be surrounded by redwoods and just minutes from the Pacific ocean—an unbeatable setting for fieldwork, collaboration, and life outside the office.

Compensation Details: This position comes with annual pay range depending on experience of $71,048 to $106,572\. The pay is just one part of Green Diamond’s total compensation package. Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company financial bonus and an individual performance\-based bonus.

In addition, Green Diamond offers a generous benefit package to include medical/vision and dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k) plan with match and profit sharing. Paid time off includes nine designated and up to two personal holidays, ten vacation days, ten sick days, 30 days parental leave, 3 days bereavement, an additional 2\-day bereavement unpaid, jury duty, one volunteer day, and 5 days family care. More information about benefits can be viewed on our website: www.greendiamond.com/people/career\-opportunities.

We are 6th generation family\-owned company guided by our values of environmental stewardship and supporting our local communities. The history of our Company spans over 130 years.
