MUST BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE VIRGINIA STATE BAR IN GOOD STANDING TO BE CONSIDERED.

Divorce litigation leaves everyone worse off. There is a better way to practice.

If you are a Virginia family law attorney ready for a meaningful career, handling high\-impact/low\-conflict cases, that centers negotiation, client well\-being, and your own sustainability as an attorney, Chowdhury Divorce Law Group is the place for you.

What We Offer

  • $140,000 \- $205,000 yearly, with a flexible salary structure, you choose your plan
  • 10% new client origination bonus
  • Performance bonus
  • Robust support team (experienced paralegals, admin staff, and leadership accessibility)
  • Attorney coverage when you're out, so you can truly relax and recharge while on vacation
  • Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Paid Time Off and paid holidays
  • Modern systems, streamlined workflows, and real operational stability
  • Meaningful, high\-impact family law cases, not routine churn
  • A collaborative, professional culture where attorneys are supported, not isolated
  • We are a growing family law firm in Fairfax, VA, and we're looking for an associate who wants to be part of building something, not just joining something already built. You'll own your cases from initial strategy through resolution, with real autonomy and the support of a collaborative team behind you.

We work remotely, not as a perk, but as a deliberate practice. If you do your best thinking outside a traditional office, stay organized without being micromanaged, and find that you're sharper and more focused when you control your environment, you'll fit right in. Our systems, workflows, and client communication tools are built to support attorneys who work this way.

The clients we serve are navigating divorce, custody, and complex financial disputes. They need an attorney who leads with negotiation and problem\-solving, who communicates with clarity and calm, and who understands that durable resolutions are built at the table, not in the courtroom. We believe great client outcomes begin with a strong internal culture, and we're intentional about building both.

If this sounds like the opportunity you've been looking for, we'd love to hear from you. We offer competitive compensation with performance\-based bonuses, case origination opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package. Tell us in your cover letter not just where you've been, but where you want to go.

    Our Approach to Family Law

At Chowdhury Divorce Law Group, we believe that how a case is handled matters as much as how it resolves. Every decision we make, from the first client call to the final order, is guided by a commitment to resolution over conflict and long\-term stability over short\-term wins.

    This commitment looks like:

    * Leading with Negotiation. A client comes in ready to fight for the house, the retirement accounts, and primary custody, all at once. Rather than building a litigation strategy around every demand, you take time to understand what they actually need to move forward. You help them prioritize, and you open a channel with opposing counsel that makes a negotiated resolution possible.

    * Setting the Right Tone Early. You are retained on a new custody matter. Before filing anything, you reach out to opposing counsel to introduce yourself and signal a cooperative intent. That one call changes the dynamic of the entire case.

    * Keeping the Focus on Resolution. You are reviewing a draft motion and notice language that is more inflammatory than necessary. You revise it, not because the facts do not support it, but because you know that escalating the tone will cost clients more time, money, and stress than it is worth.

    * Knowing When Court Is the Right Tool. A settlement negotiation has broken down, and the client's interests cannot be protected without judicial intervention. You move forward with confidence and preparation, because going to court when necessary is not a failure of the approach. It is part of it.

    Compensation:

    $140,000 \- $205,000 yearly

    Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients across all phases of family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, and equitable distribution, with a primary focus on negotiated, out\-of\-court resolution.
  • Develop thoughtful case strategies that prioritize settlement and minimize unnecessary conflict for clients and their families.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, agreements, motions, and other case documents to a high standard.
  • Negotiate directly with opposing counsel to achieve favorable, durable outcomes for clients.
  • Appear in court when necessary, representing clients with professionalism and composure while maintaining a commitment to proportionate, resolution\-focused advocacy.
  • Communicate proactively with clients, keeping them informed, grounded, and focused on long\-term outcomes throughout their case.
  • Coordinate with support staff to maintain organized case files and meet all deadlines.
  • Qualifications:

  • MUST BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE VIRGINIA STATE BAR IN GOOD STANDING TO BE CONSIDERED.
  • Minimum 3 years of Virginia family law experience.
  • Experience handling a range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, visitation, support, enforcement, and modifications to existing orders.
  • Demonstrated strength in negotiation and settlement strategy, with a practice philosophy that treats court as a last resort, not a first response.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and written communication skills.
  • Clear, confident verbal communication with clients and opposing counsel.
  • A genuinely client\-centered approach, with the ability to guide clients toward decisions that serve their long\-term interests, not just their immediate impulses.
  • Thrives in a remote environment, with strong self\-organization and the discipline to work independently.
  • Mediation training or collaborative law certification is a plus.
