The Journey Home is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending veteran homelessness. We deliver transitional housing, outreach, case management, employment support, and wraparound services that enable veterans to achieve stable, independent living and rebuild their lives with dignity.
Position Overview
We seek a proactive, highly organized, and mission\-driven Executive Assistant to serve as the Executive Director’s strategic partner. This newly created role will ensure seamless operations, manage competing priorities, and directly advance key organizational initiatives in a dynamic nonprofit environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively manage the Executive Director’s complex calendar, including high\-priority meetings, travel arrangements, and coordination with county commissioners, donors, contractors, and community partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the organization, managing incoming calls, emails, and inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
- Draft, proofread, and edit professional correspondence, reports, presentations, grant materials, and donor communications.
- Organize and maintain digital and physical records using Microsoft Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Support special projects, including website development, social media content scheduling and analytics, and other strategic priorities.
- Assist with office management, including supply ordering, equipment maintenance, and maintaining a professional, welcoming environment for veterans and staff.
- Provide occasional personal\-assistant support to the Executive Director.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while upholding the highest standards of confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Two or more years of experience as an Executive Assistant or in a comparable administrative support role.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Teams), Google Workspace, and digital collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with proven ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, proofreading, and professional phone etiquette.
- High emotional intelligence, discretion, flexibility, and a collaborative, solutions\-oriented approach.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally within Randolph, Delaware, and Jay counties.
- Nonprofit experience.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Passion for veteran services or social\-impact work.
- Bilingual abilities.
