Summary:
The ELA\+ Director ensures that students receive the highest quality educational experience the district can provide by exhibiting leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the English Language Arts program, improving the quality of instruction and the availability of appropriate resources.

- Provides staff leadership in promoting the understanding of the educational objectives, and plans and administers programs of inservice educational activities for instructional personnel to meet these objectives.
- Provides leadership in enforcing school and administrative policies, and regulations, for students and teachers within the department.
- Act as a resource person for department teachers and current/incoming families on curriculum questions, including student placement tests.
- Directs the creation, review, updating, and publication of all approved curriculum documents, guides, and materials and oversees the implementation of assessments. Conducts regular department meetings and submits reports on department activities to the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
- Evaluates and reviews the performance of all professional staff assigned to the subject area in accordance with contractual and administrative procedures and makes recommendations to the administration regarding department personnel.
- Ensures continuity and articulation of the instructional program throughout the district.
- Meets with other department heads to promote interdisciplinary programs.
- Checks lesson plans regularly to ensure curriculum requirements are met and necessary materials are available.
- Establishes or participates in a program for ongoing evaluation of instruction and curriculum, including analyzing, evaluating, and disseminating data from local and state assessments.
- Makes recommendations on curriculum development and program innovation.
- Complete curriculum and course reviews to ensure they meet graduation requirements.
- Complete curriculum and course reviews to ensure they meet NCAA requirements.
- Assists in the screening and recommended the hiring of department personnel.
- Keeps informed on educational innovations and trends as they relate to department concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- The director will build the ELA\+ team of specialists who will report to this position.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education required.
- Master’s Degree in School Administration or related preferred.
- Recent supervisory experience and administration experience preferred.
- Ability to plan and coordinate programs and administrative activities of a complex, interrelated, and interdependent nature.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to manage information.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities successfully.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues.
- Relationship\-building and relationship management skills. Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, staff, and the general public.

- Must have an understanding of using the Google suite as most lessons will be created with that system.
- Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.
- Current driver's license.
- Valid car insurance .
- Oklahoma teaching certification in one of the following areas required:
- + Reading Specialist Certificate
- Must be able to pass a state\-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made.
- Must have favorable employment references.
