Access North has a Full\-Time Independent Living Coordinator position available in the Duluth area.
This position requires in‑person work for the first six months, with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid or remote role following a successful six‑month review.
NOTE: This position will be a 32\-Hour work week working Monday – Thursday and have Fridays off! So, what does this mean? Access North is embracing work/life balance which means this position will still be considered Full\-Time even though it is a 4\-Day work week and still receive all of the Full\-Time benefits!
The Independent Living Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Access North’s mission to support individuals with disabilities in living independently, pursuing meaningful goals, and accessing the same opportunities and choices available to all people.
In this role, the Independent Living Coordinator serves as a strong advocate for disability rights and independent living. They work directly with consumers to help them maintain independence within their communities, promote Disability Partners throughout the ten‑county service area, and collaborate with community agencies to support consumers in achieving their independent living goals. The Coordinator also provides general information and referrals to consumers and community members as needed, and contributes as a collaborative team member to help meet the goals and objectives of all Access North programs.

Responsibilities of the role include the following but not limited to:
- Knowledge of independent living skills training and its facilitation.
- Knowledge of human disabilities and their characteristics
- Knowledge of computer applications and computer software programs.
- Knowledge of human services programs, practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in carrying out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, other service providers and co\-workers.
- Ability to work independently, one\-on\-one or in a group setting to provide support with the ongoing daily operations of a multi\-level non\-profit organization.
- Ability to monitor own schedule and workload, reliably working all paid hours, regularly communicating these to supervisor and completing corresponding timecard and Management Information System Data Entry.
- Ability to facilitate groups and provide educational classes.
- Understanding of the Independent Living Philosophy
- Ability to work with leadership and staff to achieve goals of the organization.
- Must be able to travel throughout the service area independently.
