The Arlington County Treasurer’s Office is looking for a highly motivated Summer Intern who is eager to gain hands\-on experience and valuable on\-the\-job training while learning about local government. The successful candidate will perform a variety of functions such as reviewing, verifying, organizing, and researching, as well as administrative duties in support of the Compliance and Operations Divisions of the Arlington County Treasurer’s Office. Due to the sensitive nature of the information handled, attention to detail, discretion, and good judgment are essential.
Major Job Duties:
- Organizing and preparing paper records for scanning on letter\-size document scanning equipment;
- Scanning documents and verifying they are accurate and complete before indexing to existing accounts using unique identifiers; verifying addresses in our system against Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) information;
- Researching and resolving returned mail;
- Assisting with processing dog license applications, identifying related existing accounts within Arlington County tax system;
- Reviewing and closing expired dog license renewals as applicable; and
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent; and
- Current enrollment in a post\-HS education program (College/University/Trade School etc.); and
The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling documents, performing data entry, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner. The candidate will be reliable, eager to learn, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with a variety of software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Background Check: A pre\-employment criminal records check will be conducted. Additional Information
Work hours: This is not a remote opportunity; employees are expected to be in the office full time. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
