The Senior Manager, Data Platform is a senior technology leader responsible for the delivery, adoption, and evolution of mSupply’s enterprise data platform. This role serves as the Technical Product Owner during a critical implementation and maturation phase, partnering with a Business Product Owner who controls business prioritization and value definition. The Senior Manager owns technical execution, platform health, architectural integrity, delivery outcomes, and people leadership for the Data Platform team.
Job Duties \& Responsibilities
- Serve as the Technical Product Owner for the enterprise data platform, owning the technical backlog, platform health, and delivery execution.
- Partner with the Business Product Owner on prioritization, and translate business priorities into technically sound user stories, platform initiatives, and delivery plans.
- Lead and run Agile ceremonies for the Data Platform team, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Balance near\-term delivery with long\-term platform scalability, reliability, and architectural integrity.
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment with data architecture standards, integration patterns, and technology strategy.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security teams on platform reliability, scalability, cost efficiency, and security controls.
- Drive improvements in data quality, testing, observability, and operational maturity, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and career development for team members while fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and reinforce engineering standards for testing, documentation, and operational support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7\+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, BI development, or data platform roles.
- 3\+ years of experience leading technical teams in Agile delivery environments.
- Hands\-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and modern data transformation tools such as dbt.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ELT/ETL pipelines, and modern analytics architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to balance people leadership, technical execution, and stakeholder alignment.
- Experience with Azure\-based data services and cloud\-native architectures.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for analytics and data workloads.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance practices.
- Experience in wholesale distribution, supply chain, or multi\-location operational environments.
- Experience or demonstrated ability using AI\-powered tools (e.g., code assistants, LLMs, AI\-augmented workflows) to accelerate work and improve outcomes.
- Primarily sedentary work with extended periods at a computer
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through virtual collaboration tools
- Occasional standing, walking, and movement during meetings or travel
- Ability to travel periodically for business needs, including visits to distribution centers, suppliers, or industry events
- Office environment with standard business equipment such as computers, phones, and conferencing tools
